Job Description Summary The Department of English and Media Studies at Bentley University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2027. We seek candidates with a record of creative scholarship and innovative teaching in the fields of Digital Humanities and/or New Media Studies. We particularly welcome applications from scholars whose research and teaching will broaden our curriculum and support the diverse needs of our undergraduate students. The candidate appointed to this position will be prepared to teach an introductory course in Digital Humanities and/or New Media and to develop new courses in their area of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach existing courses, including Critical Reading and Writing and/or Multimodal Communication. Tenure-track faculty teach a 2-2 load during their first three years and a 3-2 load during their final two years before applying for tenure. The standard teaching load for tenured faculty is 3-2, with the potential for additional course releases for exceptional creative and scholarly production. Candidates are also expected to maintain a strong teaching portfolio and contribute through departmental and university service. The English and Media Studies Department offers an array of courses in literature, film, communication, creative writing, and media production. We actively engage students through several innovative degree paths to complement students pursuing business-related professions, including majors in English, Creative Industries, and Film and Media and minors in Gender and Sexuality, Media Management, and Ethnic Studies. Serving as the hub for writing and media, the department also houses the Climate Creativity Lab, Writing Center, ESOL Center, and Film and Media Studies Lab. Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in English, Communication, Media, or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialization in Digital Humanities with a strong record of developing and/or leading a DH research project
  • Research in New Media Studies (including but not limited to audio, video games, or social media).

The grade range is based on market data and the scope of responsibilities. Final pay will depend on your experience, education, and other relevant qualifications. Salary Ranges (depending on rank, qualifications and experience):
