Compensation: Minimum starting salary based on education: Master’s degree: $55,430.00 Master’s +45: $58,180.00 Doctorate: $60,930.00 Final salary to commensurate with education, experience and other applicable factors. Compensation Type: Salary Employment Type: Regular FLSA: Exempt Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Position Summary Teaches 30 credits per year of assigned classes and performs instructional duties in diverse learning environments. Responsibilities will include designing and preparing for course assignments, maintaining scheduled office hours, student placement and performance assessments, student conferences, grading student work, and providing academic advisement. It is expected that faculty maintain current professional standards and practices, as well as attend committee/department meetings, and support the mission of SFCC and the School of Science, Health, Engineering, and Math. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Duties & Responsibilities Teaches 30 credits per year. Conducts assigned classes in accordance with approved course syllabi. Advises students concerning academic achievement and learning goals. Assists students with enrollment, registration, and navigating systems. Works with Counseling/Disability Services and the Tutoring Center, making referrals as necessary. Submits required reports by deadlines. Acquaints students with course content, requirements, grading procedures, and attendance policy. Maintains and submits to School chairs up-to-date course outlines and assessment materials. Seeks ways to improve instruction, keeping abreast of professional education developments. Maintains approved schedule of office hours. Assists in the choice of textbooks and other instructional materials that are appropriate to the course syllabi. Creates curriculum and assessment instruments; uses appropriate technology in teaching. Attends and supports college activities; participates in faculty, division, collegewide, and other meetings and functions; serves on committees. Develops and selects materials and methods for faculty to use in teaching and assessing math courses. Observes and mentors faculty. Provides leadership and professional development opportunities for adjunct faculty. Collaborates with other faculty and staff in the School and across the college. Assumes special duties assigned by the School Chairs, Dean or Associate Dean of Science, Health, Engineering and Math and/or designated representatives. Although the above are typical of the duties and responsibilities normally performed, additional duties and responsibilities requiring the same or lesser skills, knowledge and dexterity may be required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Current and demonstrated knowledge in applicable course content; Knowledge of current teaching methodologies and practices, such as cooperative learning, service-learning, traditional and alternative assessment; on-line and blended course delivery; Diverse learning styles; of tutorial units and related instructional learning laboratories; Evaluation methodologies; Record keeping; Curriculum design and planning. Strong oral and written communication skills. Skill in problem solving; in time management; in computer use; in listening and in critical thinking. Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, special needs, and ethnic backgrounds of college students. Demonstrated ability to teach developmental- and college-level courses. Ability to communicate information and ideas; speak clearly; work with students with learning differences and disabilities; and teach a variety of math courses.   • Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related field , including at least 18 graduate credits in math.
  • Three (3) years experience teaching a variety of mathematics courses including at least three of the following: developmental math, statistics, liberal arts math/quantitative reasoning, and college-level algebra/calculus Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience at the community college level.
  • Experience teaching statistics
  • Five (5) or more years of teaching experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development, on-line and technology-enriched teaching, and student advisement.
  • Experience teaching diverse populations.
