  • Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Winter 2027 Term Course: GERM 202 D2 – German Language, Beginners (3 credits) section 002 Note: This is the second half of a 6-credit course that will be taught in the Winter 2027 academic term representing 3 credits of the full 6-credit course . This contract begins on January 5, 2027, and ends on May 7, 2027. Course details: A comprehensive first level course designed to develop communicative skills. Contract dates: January 5, 2027– May 7, 2027 Course start and end dates: January 5, 2027– April 14, 2027 Course schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10:35am – 11:25am Location : TBA Salary (rate for 3-credit course teaching) : $11,824.00 Posting Period: October 1, 2026
  • October 15, 2026 Application deadline: October 15th, 2026, 11:59 PM Position Summary: A Course Lecturer assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities: a) preparation of the Course and Course plan; b) delivery of the Course; c) evaluation of students; d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades; e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff; f) upon request, review of their students’ grades; g) meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements; Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material. Teaching Qualification Requirements: Education: M.A. or Ph.D. in German or registered in the German Studies graduate program at McGill. Native or near-native fluency in German required. Experience: A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be a graduate student in German Studies in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University. Course lecturers must demonstrate a familiarity with the course materials used in German Studies language courses. Required Application Documents: Applicants must submit the following documents: 1. an updated CV, 2. a letter of introduction stating their teaching philosophy and how they would approach the teaching of a particular course , and 3. a syllabus for the course which must follow the template provided by the McGill course outline guidelines ( ). Before applying, please note that to work at McGill University, you must be both authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located. McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.
