- Neurology (Cognitive Neurology) Job Family Group: Academic Job Description Summary: The Department of Neurology at The University of Kansas Health System and University of Kansas Medical Center seeks a full-time academic cognitive neurologist to join the Memory Care Clinic and the KU Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC), an NIA-designated center. This clinician-investigator faculty position combines subspecialty memory care with clinical trials and research in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Clinically, the neurologist will evaluate and care for patients with cognitive disorders in the Memory Care Clinic, including biomarker-informed diagnosis and anti-amyloid therapy. They will also help extend that expertise statewide through virtual visits and eConsults with rural primary care partners. This statewide work is part of KU's growing virtual campus (supported by the Patterson Grant) and the state-funded Kansas Brain Health Assessment Network. Both bring specialty cognitive care to regions of Kansas that currently have no practicing neurologist. In research, the neurologist will serve as an investigator on ADRC clinical trials, as site principal investigator or sub-investigator, and contribute to the center's collaborative research programs. They will have mentorship and resources to develop their own areas of scholarship. The position includes teaching and mentoring of students, residents, and fellows, with faculty rank commensurate with experience. This is a 1.0 FTE position with a balanced clinical and research role. Job Description: Job Duties
- Conduct both independent and collaborative research into the ADRC.
- Deliver virtual neurology consultations to memory care patients located in rural clinics across Kansas.
- Develop and implement evidence-based care plans in collaboration with local providers.
- Support screening, early diagnosis initiatives, and management of neurocognitive conditions.
- Participate in development of telehealth workflows, protocols, and best practices.
- Maintain connection with the academic department through case discussions, education, and clinical collaboration.
- Contribute to program growth and innovation in rural tele-neurology care.
- Contribute to the education, training, and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and other learners.
- Participate in departmental and divisional meetings, case conferences, teaching rounds, seminars, or academic activities.
- Work alongside telehealth coordinators, nurse health coaches, and care navigators to improve patient outcomes and reduce barriers to care.
- Collaborate with local primary care providers to guide diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Pursue research funding, publications, and the expansion of ADRC research.
