Job Posting Title: Adjunct Faculty, Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling Job Description: Position Overview: The Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling program at the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) seeks applications for an Adjunct Faculty to teach one course during Module 2 of Fall semester 2026. This course is designed to provide students with exposure to and knowledge of public health principles, healthcare systems, and topics relevant to delivery of healthcare services in the United States and abroad. An appreciation for an integrated, team-based approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to use creative approaches for academic program development, have strong interpersonal skills, encourage growth of critical thinking skills, and have the ability to communicate effectively. Genetics Course: Candidates may submit an application to teach the following course:
- GENE 5030 Principles of Public Health (Module 2, Fall 2026): 1.5 credits Education and Experience: The successful candidate must hold an advanced degree in public health or field closely related to public health, preferably a PhD or DrPH. Experience in teaching is strongly desired. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a team environment and show a strong commitment to a culture of diversity, respect, and inclusion. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential function of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Individual will be responsible for planning and teaching a public health curriculum that supports students’ integration of knowledge, skills, and experience to prepare them for future jobs in genetic counseling. This may include, but is not limited to the following:
- Leading and coordinating the course
- Designing active learning activities to build knowledge and skills
- Developing formative and summative assessments to provide feedback on student performance
- Other duties as assigned. - Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Hours, Classification, and Status: This is a part-time, exempt, adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for benefits. Schedules will vary depending on course assignments and the needs of the department or the Institute. The base salary range for this position is $2,500 - $15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course. Physical and Mental Requirements Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans. Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages. Ability to travel locally, depending on business needs.
