Duties This position is located at a Factory within the Clothing and Textiles Business Group, Federal Prison Industries, Inc. The Supervisory Industrial Specialist is responsible for the engineering, product development, product costing and quality assurance functions for the corporation along with the technical and management support functions. Tasked with developing and monitoring all aspects of Industrial Specialist functions. Reporting tools and statistical measurement of all participants is required and methods to collect data and provide analysis will need to be developed. Through Supply Chain Management strategies, incumbent will provide feedback and supporting documentation regarding customer expectations and corporate objectives. Through optimization of the workforce, the incumbent will be required to meet the needs of the ever-increasing number of customer orders, as well as providing an improved level of customer service to both internal and external customers. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. Qualifications To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Basic Requirements: Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study

• business administration, industrial management, engineering, applied sciences, or other fields related to the position. OR Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the methods, materials, machinery, and facilities used in industrial production operations (which may include exploration, extraction, refining, manufacturing, or processing). This knowledge may have been gained in work such as: Management or supervision of production operations. Industrial planning, industrial engineering, or plant engineering, involving determination of facilities and layout. Process or methods development involving production practices associated with chemical, mechanical, electronic, textile, or food industries. Development of specifications to define product requirements. Sales engineering or buying that required a comprehensive knowledge of production operations. Planning and administering industrial quality control and inspection systems and programs. Comprehensive survey and analysis of industrial operations, organization, capacity, etc. Interpreting and applying contract clauses and government acquisition regulations. Development of plans to determine material requirements and/or schedules for production management. In addition to having the above Basic Requirements, applicants must also meet the following: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this grade level. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience with FPI's cost accounting systems and methods to be able to perform analysis of manufacturing processes to recommend and implement appropriate costing methods for particular production applications. Experience developing or revising textile manufacturing processes, reviewing specifications, and implementing production plans for complex product lines. Experience with product costing functions which include, building bills of materials, completing work measurement, creating routings and rolling the costs for all textiles finished goods and subassemblies. Experience with interpretation of technical drawings and specifications in the most complex situations involving facilities, machinery methods, materials, costs, and standards. Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
