The Nursing Manager, reports to the Director of Medical Services, provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services across the organization's substance use treatment facilities. This role is responsible for directing the overall and day-to-day operations of the nursing department to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care that aligns with clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards. Requirements Duties & Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. · Hires and evaluates performance of employees. · Counsels employees and assists them with goal setting. · Initiates disciplinary action including verbal and written reprimands. · Delegates scheduling of work hours of staff. · Designs, implements, and evaluates nursing quality assurance activities. · Interprets and administers policies and procedures. · Provides training of subordinates. · Tracks monthly budget figures and provides input in developing the departmental budget. · Determines needs for supplies and equipment. · Attends meetings with other departments to gather or share information for client care delivery. · Develops service unit goals. · Monitors and evaluates patient care for ethical, legal, and safe conduct. · Promotes individual and environmental safety. · Resolves client care problems. · Provides final decisions regarding operations of work unit. · Provide education to clients regarding medical conditions. · Work with a variety of outside agencies to coordinator support services. · Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of clients. · Ensure privacy and confidentiality of all clients and their medical records. · Completes duties in a professional and timely manner. · Reports all alleged incidents of abuse or neglect in accordance with all state standards and accrediting bodies. · Ensures all records are accurate and are prepared in a timely fashion. · Ensures that all records are available for all state and accrediting bodies staff inspection. · Ensures that functions are met in a professional and timely manner. · Ensures and coordinates with the clinical staff’s functioning, so as to avoid scheduling conflicts for clients, between . Administration, Clinical, and programmatic needs or requirements set-forth by the Standards. · Stands “on-call” at designated times. · Uphold all Hanley Foundation Policies and Procedures. · Maintain client/potential client confidentiality in accordance with Hanley Policy. Supervisory Responsibility: This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the department. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Travel: No travel is expected for this position. Education/Experience/Qualifications: · Maintain current Nursing license from the Board of Nursing. · Minimum three (3) years post licensure experience or minimum ten (10) years management experience. · Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience required. · If in recovery, one (1) year of continuous sobriety is required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: · Demonstrate managerial experience and competence. · Knowledge, experience and competence in the specific areas of adult treatment, adult co-morbid complications, and family systems theory. · Must be computer literate and be familiar with most Microsoft products and network components. · Must have fluid communication skills that foster teamwork and high morale. · Must be able to set an example as a leader so that others that report to them want to follow with enthusiasm. · Must possess a high degree of leadership skills both in theory and practice. · Must possess a high degree of organization skills and be able to pass this information to his/her direct reports. · Must possess skills in the area of facility budgeting and forecasting. · Must also possess skills in the area of strategic planning and implementation of such. Competence/Measurements: · Monthly programmatic benchmarks will be met/reviewed. · Compliance with strategic plan set forth – documentation/observation. · Staff morale and demonstration of leadership – observation/staff interviews. · Family, referral and client satisfaction – documentation/interviews. · Meeting financial/monthly benchmarks – documentation. · Timely and accurate performance evaluations – documentation. · Compliance with all state standards and accrediting bodies – documentation.
