Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Outreach Program Coordinator Job Summary: The Outreach Program Coordinator provides administrative, operational, and project coordination support for two statewide workforce development initiatives housed within the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI): Wisconsin's Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) Community Health Worker (CHW) workforce initiatives. Working closely with program leadership and operations staff, this position supports the day-to-day implementation of statewide programs that strengthen Wisconsin's public health and community health workforce. Responsibilities include project tracking, meeting and event coordination, documentation management, reporting support, communications, and operational systems that enable successful implementation of CHW workforce, technical assistance, evaluation, and sustainability activities. This position helps ensure that administrative and operational functions are organized, responsive, and aligned with Community Health Worker values, while reducing administrative burdens on program staff, CHWs, contractors, and partner organizations. The position is based at UWPHI within the School of Medicine and Public Health and may require occasional statewide travel. - Schedules and secures logistics and resources in support of an outreach program
- Directs the implementation of program policies and procedures
- Schedules day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
- Identifies opportunities for program improvement or new outreach program development Department: School of Medicine and Public Health, Population Health Institute – Workforce Development Pathways Unit The UW Population Health Institute (UWPHI) works to improve the health of all people in Wisconsin and beyond by conducting research and providing technical assistance to policymakers, practitioners, and communities. The Workforce Development Pathways (WFDP) unit leads statewide Community Health Worker workforce development, including coordination of the Rural Health Transformation Program CHW initiative in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Compensation: The starting salary for the position is $50,000 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. - Experience providing project coordination, program support, administrative support, or operational support for complex initiatives .
- Experience coordinating meetings, schedules, logistics, documentation, and communications across multiple partners.
- Experience maintaining project tracking systems, spreadsheets, databases, or reporting tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms Preferred Qualifications:
- Lived or professional experience as a Community Health Worker or CHW Ally.
- Experience supporting state or federally funded programs.
- Experience supporting grant reporting, contract administration, or subcontractor coordination.
- Experience supporting training and technical assistance programs, learning collaboratives, or workforce development initiatives.
- Experience planning in-person events
- Experience working within UW-Madison, UW System, or similar higher education administrative environments.
- Experience maintaining project management systems, dashboards, shared resource repositories, or operational workflows.
- Experience working with Community Health Workers, public health programs, healthcare organizations, or community-based organizations. Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred; focus in public health, community health, social work, business administration, or a related field preferred.
