Job Description Position Summary The Manager, Trade Operations is a hands-on operational leader responsible for the daily execution, processing, settlement, and reconciliation of fixed income, syndicated loan, and treasury transactions supporting Brookfield's Credit investment strategies. This role actively performs and supervises trade lifecycle activities across multiple trading, settlement, treasury, custody, and reconciliation platforms while ensuring operational accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to internal controls. The successful candidate will possess deep technical expertise in trade operations workflows, security settlement mechanics, cash payment processing, MT202 /MT103 SWIFT messaging, and exception management. This individual serves as a player-coach, maintaining direct involvement in critical operational functions while leading and developing the Trade Operations team. The ideal candidate is comfortable working within OMS, custodial, treasury, banking, and settlement systems daily and has extensive experience independently resolving complex operational issues across global markets. Roles & Responsibilities Trade Processing & Settlement
  • Execute, monitor, and oversee trades through the full trade lifecycle, ensuring accurate and timely settlement across fixed income, syndicated loan, derivative, and other credit-related products.
  • Perform end-to-end trade settlement activities including trade affirmation, matching, funding coordination, fail management, break investigation, and exception resolution.
  • Actively process and monitor trading activity utilizing OMS, settlement platforms, custodial systems, and reconciliation tools.
  • Investigate, escalate, and resolve complex trade breaks, settlement failures, cash discrepancies, and position differences.
  • Execute and oversee wire settlements associated with trading activity, ensuring all settlement deadlines and control requirements are met.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of domestic and international settlement markets, including products requiring complex settlement structures and foreign market conventions. Treasury & Cash Management
  • Execute and review payment processing activities, treasury transactions, cash movements, and funding requirements to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage daily operational activities within bank portals, SWIFT networks, and payment systems, including transaction processing, troubleshooting, exception investigation, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with custodians, counterparties, brokers, and banking partners to facilitate settlement and treasury-related activities.
  • Monitor liquidity requirements and support trading-related funding activities to ensure successful trade settlement. Account & Custody Management
  • Execute account onboarding, maintenance, and closure activities across custodians, banks, brokers, and counterparties.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with custodians, settlement agents, banks, and other operational service providers.
  • Ensure account documentation and operational records are maintained in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Operational Controls, Risk & Governance
  • Support the design, implementation, and enhancement of operational controls and procedures to mitigate settlement, payment, and operational risks.
  • Facilitate the ongoing development and enhancement of a SOC 1 control framework supporting operational excellence and external client requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory developments, industry changes, and settlement best practices impacting trade operations activities.
  • Ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, controls, and service level standards. Process Improvement & Automation
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through process redesign, workflow optimization, automation, and technology enhancements.
  • Partner with technology, operations, and business stakeholders to implement system enhancements and operational process improvements.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing, system implementations, and operational change initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing operational risk and increasing scalability. Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Trade Operations personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a player-coach by maintaining direct involvement in daily processing, settlement, reconciliation, and exception management activities.
  • Provide hands-on operational support during periods of increased volume, market events, project implementations, or staffing constraints.
  • Act as a primary escalation point for complex operational issues impacting trade settlement, treasury activity, and investment teams.
  • Partner closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Asset Managers, and other internal stakeholders to support investment activity and deliver exceptional client service. Reporting & Performance Management
  • Review and monitor KPIs, SLAs, operational metrics, and management dashboards to ensure critical processes are completed accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Analyze operational trends, identify risks, and recommend actionable improvements to management.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned. Preferred Experience & Technical Expertise
  • Extensive hands-on experience processing and settling fixed income, syndicated loan, derivative, and treasury transactions.
  • Advanced knowledge of trade lifecycle management, settlement operations, and post-trade processing.
  • Strong working knowledge of SWIFT messaging, wire processing, cash management, and payment systems.
  • Experience utilizing OMS, PMS, custodial platforms, treasury systems, settlement platforms, and reconciliation tools.
  • Demonstrated success investigating and resolving complex settlement exceptions, trade breaks, cash discrepancies, and operational issues.
  • Strong understanding of global custody, DTCC, Euroclear, Clearstream, collateral management, and derivative operations.
  • Experience leading operational teams while remaining directly engaged in day-to-day execution activities.
  • Proven ability to identify automation opportunities and drive operational process improvements.
