Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS). As a Social Science Research Analyst, GS-0101-13, the incumbent develops and uses survey, market research, and statistical methodologies and techniques to conduct studies of assigned HHS programs. Duties
- Developing and conducting program and policy analyses to identify and understand the needs and preferences of HHS health and human services programs and the populations they serve.

- Activities include questionnaire design, sampling, field operations, and estimation.
- Designing, analyzing, implementing, and interpreting studies regarding the influence of communications about disease and therapy. Qualifications

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1. Leading the planning, development, design, implementation and evaluation of Medicaid and CHIP healthcare research projects; e.g. providing answers to technical questions and responding to data requests and reviewing data for data quality issues); 2. Managing data-driven products in collaboration with multiple disciplines, including research, analysis, data analytics, and data ingestion; AND 3. Developing and presenting technical documents to explain data from studies OR to make recommendations to stakeholders on program policies or program integrity initiatives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must have the following educational requirements: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
