  • Heart Recovery role located in Danvers, MA or Aachen, Germany. The Senior Director, Supply Chain and Operations Finance – Heart Recovery serves as the principal finance partner to Abiomed’s Supply Chain and Quality leadership, including the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Quality. This leader is accountable for translating operational strategy into financial outcomes across Make, Source, Plan, Deliver, Quality, and the global manufacturing network. The role leads a high-performing global finance team and partners across Abiomed, Heart Recovery, J&J MedTech Finance, and Global Services to improve gross margin, optimize working capital, strengthen operational resilience, allocate capital effectively, and maintain compliant accounting and control processes. The position has global responsibility for manufacturing sites in the United States, Germany, and Israel. Key Responsibilities Strategic Partnership and Enterprise Leadership
  • Serve as the principal finance partner to the Chief Operating Officer, Vice President of Quality, and their leadership teams, providing independent insight, constructive challenge, and clear recommendations.
  • Translate Supply Chain and Quality strategies into financial plans, operational targets, investment priorities, and measurable value-creation commitments.
  • Provide end-to-end financial leadership across Make, Source, Plan, Deliver, Quality, and the global manufacturing network.
  • Shape long-range supply-chain strategy, including capacity, network, facility, sourcing, make-versus-buy, and product-launch decisions.
  • Represent Supply Chain Finance in enterprise initiatives, including international expansion, business integration, manufacturing automation, and other strategic programs. Performance Management and Financial Planning
  • Lead annual business planning, forecasting, and long-range financial planning for Supply Chain and Quality, with particular focus on gross profit, operating expense, capital expenditure, inventory, headcount, and manufacturing performance.
  • Establish clear assumptions, targets, and key performance indicators; monitor results and identify risks and opportunities early.
  • Deliver standardized, decision-oriented reporting on scrap, yield, labor and production efficiency, purchase-price and manufacturing variances, inventory health, working capital, capacity utilization, and capital productivity.
  • Improve forecast accuracy and transparency by linking financial results to operational drivers and ownership.
  • Partner with operations leaders to define and deliver gross-margin improvement, productivity, and cost-improvement roadmaps. Decision Support and Value Creation
  • Develop rigorous business cases and scenario analyses for capital investments, network changes, sourcing alternatives, automation, capacity expansion, product launches, and supply-disruption responses.
  • Evaluate and validate cost-improvement initiatives, define financial benefits and milestones, and track delivery after approval.
  • Own cost-of-goods-sold modeling for long-range planning, portfolio valuation, and strategic decision-making.
  • Support sales and operations planning and integrated business planning by connecting demand, supply, inventory, capacity, service, and financial implications.
  • Drive disciplined capital allocation, including post-investment reviews and accountability for realized returns. Controls, Compliance, and Risk Management
  • Partner with Global Services and Accounting to maintain compliant and effective processes for standard costing, inventory and cycle counts, reserves, fixed assets, capital expenditure, transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and related controls.
  • Ensure the integrity of inventory accounting, manufacturing variances, reserves, and cost standards across the global network.
  • Identify and manage financial risks associated with foreign exchange, regional requirements, supplier concentration, capacity constraints, quality events, and supply-chain disruptions.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely remediation of control deficiencies. Transformation, Technology, and People Leadership
  • Lead, develop, and retain a diverse, high-performing global team through clear expectations, coaching, succession planning, and differentiated development.
  • Build a connected team culture across sites that emphasizes inclusion, transparency, collaboration, change leadership, capability building, and well-being.
  • Lead finance-process transformation and implementation of relevant J&J MedTech practices and systems within Heart Recovery.
  • Advance automation, analytics, and responsible use of artificial intelligence to improve insight, productivity, and decision speed across the team’s processes. Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 12 or more years of progressive finance experience..
  • Demonstrated people-leadership experience, including leading and developing teams in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders, challenge constructively, lead through ambiguity, and translate complex operational and financial issues into clear decisions.
  • Experience managing multiple strategic priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%. Preferred
  • Advanced degree, such as an MBA, and/or a relevant professional certification.
  • Experience in medical devices, life sciences, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting a global manufacturing network and leading teams across countries and cultures.
  • Experience with supply-chain transformation, enterprise-resource-planning systems, systems integration, automation, and advanced analytics.
  • Working knowledge of sales and operations planning or integrated business planning, network optimization, sourcing strategy, and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning and analysis, standard costing, inventory accounting, manufacturing variances, capital investment analysis, and financial controls. Location
  • Preferred location is Danvers, Massachusetts, or Aachen, Germany.
  • Remote locations may be considered with the ability to travel regularly to Danvers and Aachen. – The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.
