- Base Salary Level C $162,347 p.a. - $187,198 p.a. + 17% superannuation About the opportunity Join the Sydney School of Education and Social Work within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Senior Lecturer in TESOL role plays a key part in delivering high quality Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), focuses on the teaching and learning of languages and literacy in both English-speaking and non-English-speaking nations. You'll dive into the learning and teaching of English, languages other than English and English as a second or additional language/dialect (EAL/D). You’ll understand the implications of pedagogy, curriculum design and assessment and evaluation in schools, community organisations and higher education institutions. Reporting to the Head of School, your key responsibilities will be:
- coordinate and teach units related to TESOL and EAL/D curriculum in initial teacher education programs across primary and secondary education
- support ongoing education and research programs in the area of Community Languages education
- build and maintain reputation of academic excellence
- make original and innovative contribution to research and education which expand knowledge or practice
- maintain a research profile which meets University expectations and standards
- lead the development in research which enhance the reputation of the School, such as leading participation in internationally-funded research projects or partner-engaged research projects
- contribute to outstanding teaching and learning outcomes
- actively contribute to research, education and administrative activities
- contribute to collaborative teaching in the School and work flexibly and collaboratively in a team environment
- actively participate in governance and academic community at School and Faculty levels. About you We are seeking an exceptional Senior Lecturer in TESOL who has:
- a PhD in the area of EAL/D or languages education or a related field
- experience in teaching and learning EAL/D and/or languages in primary and/or secondary and tertiary contexts
- demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives in the field of EAL/D and/or languages
- developing network of relationships with key academic, community, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
- experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities and research
- a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the EAL/D and languages discipline and higher education sector
- a developing network of academic, community, industry and professional partners and stakeholders.
