- Teaching Specialist (Clinical Practitioner), will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across a range of midwifery topics. The lecturer will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality, innovative teaching through lectures, tutorials, clinical placements, and contemporary digital strategies. This includes creating course materials, coordinating placements, and conducting assessments. The role also requires ongoing clinical or community-based practice to maintain current skills and knowledge. In addition, the incumbent will provide informal leadership by supporting academic staff, coordinating workflows, and ensuring high standards aligned with university policies and practices. Senior Lecturer The Senior Lecturer in Midwifery – Teaching Specialist (Clinical Practitioner), will provide leadership in delivering excellence in teaching and learning across the suite of Midwifery topics and courses in the College of Healthcare and Enablement, that enhance the student experience. The role will provide educational leadership; curriculum design and review; delivery innovation; advancements in education technologies; and leadership in ensuring internal and external compliance and accreditation of courses and continuous quality improvement of university-level education. The Senior Lecturer will also be expected to concurrently engage in practice in a clinical or community setting to support maintenance of contemporary practice, knowledge and skills. About You The Lecturer will have demonstrated excellence in tertiary teaching across classroom, simulation and/or clinical settings, including placement coordination. You will have a proven ability to independently contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies, including student assessment, and an understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship and practice. Additionally, as the Senior Lecturer, you will have significant and sustained evidence of excellence in tertiary teaching, including experience in simulation and/or clinical settings. You will have a strong track record of developing, delivering and evaluating innovative teaching and learning strategies across classroom and clinical education environments, together with a demonstrated commitment to teaching scholarship and professional development in higher education. You will have a strong understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship and practice, together with experience coordinating and/or leading the teaching activities of colleagues. In these roles you will also be able to demonstrate:
- A completion of a PhD, or other relevant and equivalent qualification and/or experience.
- Hold and maintain a current membership with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia & Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Relevant and contemporary clinical experience as an accredited Midwife.
- An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to Midwifery.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with staff, students and industry.
