Freelance QC Inspector

Our Japan Office is currently expanding its network of experienced Freelance QC Inspectors to support upcoming third-party inspection assignments across Japan. We are looking to connect with qualified inspectors who are available for project-based and ad hoc inspection work across a range of industries. This opportunity would suit experienced freelance inspectors who are interested in working with Fulkrum and our international clients on assignments as they arise. Key Responsibilities – Main Duties (include but are not limited to): Field Inspection & Testing

• Represent Fulkrum and its clients in the execution of field QC Inspector activities.
• Conduct visual inspections of commodities in line with qualifications and experience.
• Review material test certificates and verify compliance.
• Witness and verify Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in various formats.
• Perform pre-shipment inspections and ensure readiness for dispatch.
• Carry out inspections based on Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), reviewing client-provided ITPs and method statements, and resolving discrepancies.
• Ensure inspections are planned and executed using documented procedures. Reporting & Documentation
• Create, review, and submit detailed field inspection reports within 24 hours of inspection.
• Accurately report all findings, including issuing Non-Conformance Certificates when applicable.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all inspection data and share findings only with authorized client representatives.
• Where subcontracted test results are included, clearly identify them in reports. Compliance & Professional Standards
• Ensure adherence to all Client Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Verify that all inspection equipment used is appropriately calibrated and traceable to recognised national or international standards.
• Participate in internal audits and management review inputs related to inspection outcomes and process improvements.
• Alert management to any conflict-of-interest situations or undue pressures that may compromise impartiality.
• Maintain the highest standards of Independence, Impartiality, Integrity and Confidentiality , in line with ISO/IEC 17020 principles. Experience & Qualifications We are interested in hearing from inspectors with relevant engineering and inspection backgrounds, including:
• Degree, Diploma or equivalent technical qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong practical experience in Quality Control, Vendor Inspection or Third-Party Inspection.
• Previous experience supporting international clients and/or inspection agencies would be advantageous.
• Experience across Oil & Gas, energy, heavy industry, power generation, offshore wind or related industrial sectors is particularly welcome. Professional Certifications Depending on your discipline, relevant certifications may include:
• Electrical: COMPEX, ATEX or equivalent.
• Welding / Mechanical: CSWIP 3.1,

AWS Cwi

or equivalent.

• Coatings: BGAS Grade 2, AMPP/NACE Level 2, SSPC Level 2 or equivalent.
• NDT: ASNT Level II or equivalent in relevant methods such as RT, PT, UT and MT.
• API certifications are desirable for relevant inspection disciplines. We encourage experienced inspectors to apply even if they do not hold every certification listed above, as requirements will vary depending on individual assignments. Technical Knowledge Depending on the assignment, experience may include:
• Strong knowledge of ASME, ASNT, API, NACE and related industry standards.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical equipment in hazardous area environments.
• Extensive Oil & Gas inspection experience across onshore and offshore projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17020 and inspection quality management procedures. What We Are Looking For
