Position Overview PCG Consulting Group is building a team of experienced Healthcare IT professionals to support a statewide digital readiness and technology needs assessment involving hospitals throughout Illinois. Technical Digital Readiness Assessors will evaluate hospital technology environments, review documentation and operational evidence, interview key stakeholders, identify technology gaps and risks, and translate findings into clear, evidence-based recommendations. Key Responsibilities As part of a hospital assessment team, you will:

• Review technology inventories, policies, system documentation, diagrams, contracts, reports, and other supporting materials.
• Conduct structured assessment sessions with hospital IT, clinical, operational, financial, and executive stakeholders.
• Evaluate current-state technology capabilities and identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and areas requiring further evidence.
• Assess the maturity, reliability, scalability, and sustainability of hospital technology environments.
• Apply standardized assessment criteria and scoring methodologies.
• Clearly document findings, supporting evidence, confidence levels, and unresolved questions.
• Collaborate with fellow assessors to develop evidence-supported conclusions and hospital-specific reports.
• Participate in assessor training, calibration sessions, quality reviews, and project meetings.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential project documentation. Technology Areas Assessments may include:
• Network infrastructure, broadband, and connectivity
• Hardware, servers, storage, cloud, and technology lifecycle
• Backup, disaster recovery, resilience, and business continuity
• EHR and clinical, financial, administrative, and patient-engagement systems
• Application portfolios and technology inventories
• Interoperability, HIE, HL7, FHIR, APIs, and interface technologies
• Data management, analytics, reporting, and data quality
• Telehealth and connected technologies
• Automation and AI readiness
• High-level cybersecurity controls and technology risks
• Vendor relationships, support models, and technology dependencies What Success Looks Like The ideal candidate can enter an unfamiliar hospital environment, quickly understand its technology landscape, ask effective follow-up questions, distinguish verified information from assumptions, and identify meaningful technology constraints. Accuracy, objectivity, consistency, and evidence-based conclusions are essential to this role. Project Information This opportunity is contingent upon final project award, contracting, and hospital participation. Selected candidates should be prepared to complete project training and begin work quickly following authorization. Travel may include hospitals throughout northern, central, southern, and rural Illinois. Requirements
• 7+ years of healthcare IT, hospital technology, systems analysis, technology consulting, or related experience.
• Strong understanding of hospital systems and healthcare technology environments.
• Experience evaluating, supporting, managing, designing, implementing, or documenting healthcare technologies.
• Ability to evaluate technical documentation and determine whether evidence supports assessment findings.
• Experience interviewing both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate effectively with hospital IT leaders, operational teams, and executives.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work within a structured assessment and scoring methodology.
• Ability to manage multiple hospital assessments or workstreams simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and project-tracking tools.
• Ability to work as a W-2 employee for the project duration.
• Ability to travel within Illinois when onsite assessments are required. Preferred Experience We are especially interested in candidates with:
• Critical access, rural, or community hospital experience.
• Previous technology assessments, readiness reviews, gap analyses, audits, due diligence, or current-state assessments.
• Hospital CIO, IT Director, infrastructure, applications, systems architecture, interoperability, clinical informatics, or senior healthcare technology consulting experience.
• Knowledge of EHRs, clinical applications, revenue-cycle systems, interface engines, HIEs, analytics, and healthcare reporting.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, healthcare security, privacy, and technology governance.
• Experience translating complex technical findings for executive and nontechnical audiences.
• Multi-site or statewide healthcare consulting experience. A bachelor's degree in information technology, healthcare administration, informatics, engineering, business, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent healthcare technology experience will be considered.
