Research Technician I - Dermatology

 Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Chen Lab studies mechanisms of skin cancer development and novel therapy approaches for melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies. Laboratory studies include using patient samples, mouse models, and advanced molecular techniques. Responsible for assisting with laboratory duties in a research setting; performs routine tests with direction from supervisor, manager or higher level technician. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
• Assists with studies of tumor immunology and skin cancer.
• Processes human tissue and blood specimens.
• Assists with cell culture and molecular assays.
• Contributes to collaborative translational research projects and manuscript preparation.
• Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
• Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions:
• Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
• Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals. • Bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, biochemistry, or related field.
• Prior laboratory research experience.
• Experience with cell culture, molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, or animal research.
