Job Title: Head of Social Media Reports to: Head of Global Marketing Location: Malta (On-site) Employment Type: Full-time About SiGMA World SiGMA World is a global events, media and technology group working across gaming, emerging technology, digital health and affiliate marketing. Position Overview The Head of Social Media will own the social media function across all SiGMA Group brands. This is a senior leadership role responsible for setting a unified social strategy, building and leading a multi-brand team, and turning social into a measurable driver of brand growth, event attendance, sponsorship value, and community. The ideal candidate is a highly organised, structured leader who thinks strategically, builds systems that scale, and holds the team to a consistently high creative and operational standard. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Vision:
- Define and own the group-wide social media strategy across SiGMA, SiGMA Poker Tour, SiGMA Foundation, AGS, AIBC, and FX World, aligned with commercial and event objectives.
- Set a clear role for each brand on each platform (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, Threads, Telegram, YouTube, and emerging channels), with distinct objectives, audiences, and content pillars.
- Build annual and quarterly social roadmaps tied to the global events calendar, launches, and sales campaign cycles.
- Contribute to the wider marketing strategy as a member of the marketing leadership group. Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, structure, and grow the social media team, including brand social media managers, video content creators, and community staff across regions.
- Set clear roles, responsibilities, KPIs, and review cycles for every team member.
- Coach and mentor the team, running regular one-to-ones, performance reviews, and skills development.
- Lead hiring for the social function and manage freelancers and external agencies where required. Operations, Process & Governance:
- Build and maintain a group-wide content planning system, approval workflow, and publishing calendar across all brands.
- Own brand voice and social media guidelines for each brand, ensuring consistency while keeping each brand distinct.
- Establish social media policies, including posting standards, quality control, community guidelines, and escalation procedures.
- Ensure all content complies with platform advertising policies and regulatory requirements relevant to gaming, fintech, and trading audiences.
- Document processes in line with the marketing department's quality and procedures. Content Direction:
- Set the creative direction and quality bar for all social content, including video, reels, stories, graphics, and copy.
- Oversee social-first content production around events, including pre-event build-up, live on-site coverage, and post-event recaps.
- Drive the adoption of new formats, AI tools, and production workflows that improve speed and output. Paid & Organic Campaigns:
- Oversee the integration of organic and paid social, working with the paid media team to align targeting, creative, and budgets.
- Lead cross-brand campaigns that drive awareness, registrations, sponsorship leads, and ticket sales.
- Manage the social media budget and allocate resources across brands based on priorities and performance. Influencer & Partnerships:
- Set the strategy for influencer, creator, and ambassador programmes across all brands.
- Oversee negotiations, contracts, and performance tracking to ensure measurable ROI.
- Build strategic relationships with platform representatives and media partners. Community, Listening & Reputation:
- Set the framework for community management across all channels, including response times and tone.
- Implement social listening to track brand sentiment, competitor activity, and industry conversation.
- Own the social crisis and issues management protocol, acting as the escalation point for sensitive situations. Analytics, Reporting & Insight:
- Define the KPI framework for each brand and platform, linking social activity to business outcomes.
- Deliver regular performance reports and dashboards to marketing leadership, with clear insights and actions.
- Use data to test, learn, and reallocate effort towards what performs, Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with brand leads, events, sales, content, news, design, and the SiGMA Foundation to align social with wider priorities.
- Educate internal stakeholders on social best practice and what effective social looks like for each brand. Key Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (preferred).
- 8+ years' experience in social media, with at least 3 years leading and managing a team.
- Proven track record of building and scaling social strategy across multiple brands or markets.
- Exceptionally organised, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple brands, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
- Strategic thinker who can translate business goals into clear plans, frameworks, and KPIs.
- Strong people leader with experience in hiring, coaching, and managing performance, including remote and multi-location teams.
- Solid understanding of paid social, influencer marketing, community management, and social analytics tools.
- Experience in events, B2B, iGaming, fintech, or other regulated industries is a strong advantage.
- Confident presenter and communicator, comfortable reporting to senior leadership.
- Fluent in English (C1 or higher); additional languages are an asset.
