Summary About the Position: This position provides comprehensive administrative and operational support, including budget execution, procurement, and personnel administration. Additionally, the incumbent delivers direct customer service by managing visitor facility reservations, answering public inquiries, and relaying critical information during emergency operations. Duties
- Financial and Budget Support: Assist in formulating annual budgets, track manhours and expenditures, and verify financial obligations using automated systems.
- Customer Service and Visitor Operations: Greet visitors, manage the interpretive service reservation database, and deliver in-briefs covering accessibility, safety, and security.
- Personnel Administration: Serve as the project timekeeper, monitor work schedules and leave usage, and maintain accurate records of personnel actions and performance appraisals.
- Procurement and Purchasing: Administer purchases for equipment, supplies, and services using a Government Purchase Card.
- Contract Administration: Process monthly invoices, resolve minor discrepancies for maintenance service contracts, and compile data to evaluate contract performance.
- Emergency Communications: Relay critical operational and safety information from management to local officials and the public during emergency events. Qualifications for the GS-05 grade level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing routine clerical and administrative support tasks, such as data entry, basic record keeping, and responding to general customer inquiries in a front-line setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Qualifications for the GS-06 grade level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative and clerical support in the areas of budget tracking, procurement, and personnel administration using automated systems, and direct customer services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04/05). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
