Note Issue Department is responsible for developing and issuing banknotes that Australians trust. It also works to ensure cash remains a viable means of payment for those who need or want to use it. About the Section The Banknote Strategy and Engagement (BSE) section helps keep Australia’s banknotes resilient, accessible, and trusted by the public. We focus on strategic planning, research and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and oversight of design and production to help keep banknotes fit-for-purpose in an evolving environment. Our work includes producing high-quality analysis and collaborating with industry partners, law enforcement, central banks, and accessibility advocates to inform design and raise public awareness. A current flagship initiative is the $5 Redesign Project, celebrating First Nations cultures and history. Your main responsibilities will include: In this role, you will lead one of two teams within the Banknote Strategy and Engagement section, contributing to the Bank's banknote strategies through high-quality research and analysis, strategic advice, stakeholder engagement, and oversight of the $5 Redesign Project's governance and reporting.
- Overseeing strategic research and analysis to inform the Bank’s banknote strategies.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including scientific, operational and policy teams.
- Applying your strong analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills to shape strategic, policy and operational decisions.
- Overseeing project management of high-profile initiatives such as the $5 Redesign Project, with responsibility for reporting to high-level governance committees.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners and accessibility advocates.
- Providing influential, evidence-based advice to senior leadership on complex strategic and operational issues.
- Leading and developing a high-performing team. As part of the Note Issue's management team, you will contribute to a broad range of strategic and operational issues across the department. Your background To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement.
- Strong leadership capability, preferably with experience managing teams.
- Ability to communicate complex analysis, verbally and in writing, clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to navigate uncertainty and solve problems.
- Excellent written communication skills for high-quality reports and documents.
- A background in policy or related areas is desirable but not essential.
