About Kambo Energy Group Kambo Energy Group is a certified minority-owned social enterprise founded in 2009 that is advancing equitable access to energy, transportation, and housing programs through scalable, community-led models. Through partnerships with utilities, governments, Indigenous and Tribal Nations across North America, our team designs and delivers programs and approaches co-created with historically underserved populations. Our award-winning approach centers community priorities by hiring locally, empowering stakeholders, and amplifying lived experience. In addition to custom client solutions, Kambo delivers three in-house programs: Empower Me, Community Power, and the Home Upgrades Program. Community Power is Kambo’s Indigenous housing and energy division, partnering exclusively with Indigenous Nations to advance community priorities and turn complex needs into practical, funded projects. We bring together assessments, portfolio planning, project design, funding navigation and construction delivery to create a clear path from identified need to completed improvements. Working alongside Nation leadership, housing teams, residents, funders and delivery partners, we turn housing priorities into defined scopes, realistic budgets, funding strategies and coordinated implementation. Over the last 15 years, Community Power has partnered with more than 70 Indigenous Nations and organizations, completed thousands of assessments, designed hundreds of programs and projects, and supported millions of dollars in housing upgrades and new home construction. About the Opportunity As Community Power’s Community Partnerships & Funding Manager, you will build and strengthen relationships with Indigenous Nations, funders, utilities and partners, understand the goals they are trying to advance, and help move Nation priorities toward funded, implementation-ready projects. Strong projects can stall because the funding path is unclear, the right people are not connected, or no one owns the next step. Your role is to prevent that. You will connect Nation priorities with the right expertise, funding pathways and project design, then create the momentum needed to move strong projects into implementation for our Nation partners. You will work alongside an experienced team with deep expertise in Indigenous housing, construction, building science, energy, project design and delivery. You will have strong technical and delivery expertise around you, with a team that approaches complex problems practically and works together to find a way forward. Your role brings the relationship strength, funding knowledge, organization and persistence that helps connect that expertise with Nation goals. Success in this role is tangible: stronger Nation relationships, funding secured for priority work, projects moving into delivery, and more housing priorities becoming real improvements for Indigenous families and communities across Canada. About The Role Community Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous Nations, Housing Managers, leadership, staff and community partners.
  • Work alongside Nation partners to understand changing goals and priorities, and identify practical ways Community Power can support them.
  • Maintain relationships beyond individual projects so trust, knowledge, and momentum carry forward into future priorities and opportunities. Funding Management
  • Build direct, trusted relationships with government, utility and other funding and program representatives to ensure Community Power understands opportunities early and can navigate them effectively.
  • Maintain an understanding of current funding opportunities, requirements, deadlines and emerging programs.
  • Connect Nation priorities and project needs to the appropriate funding pathways, support strong applications, and support through questions, revisions and funding decisions. Project Development & Follow-Through
  • Identify new and repeat project opportunities through Nation relationships, existing projects, funding programs, outreach and strategic partners.
  • Turn early conversations into defined opportunities by clarifying the need, next steps, responsibilities, and required support.
  • Take ownership of momentum. When something stalls, find the answer, develop options, engage the right people and close the loop. External Representation & Team Coordination
  • Represent Kambo’s Community Power division confidently with Nations, funders, utilities, partners and industry organizations, including at conferences, workshops and public forums.
  • Work with Community Power’s Operations teams to turn Nation priorities into strong scopes of work, funding strategies and implementation plans, and carry the relationships, context and commitments through to delivery excellence. The Person We're Looking For You are someone who takes ownership naturally. You do not need every step defined before you can move work forward, but you also know when to ask questions, involve others or escalate something important. You are organized, dependable and persistent, and comfortable managing multiple relationships and opportunities at once. You build trust with people, listen well and communicate clearly. You can take a complicated situation, understand what matters and turn it into practical next steps. When you hit a barrier, you investigate it, consider the options and come forward with a recommendation. You will likely be a strong fit if you:
  • Are confident building relationships with different people and organizations.
  • Can keep complex work organized without losing momentum or follow-through.
  • Exercise good judgment and know when to act independently and when to bring others in.
  • Communicate clearly in meetings, presentations and written materials.
  • Learn quickly, ask strong questions and are comfortable working through ambiguity.
  • Are motivated by meaningful work and want to keep developing your knowledge, capacity, and responsibility. Qualifications & Experience There is no single background that leads to success in this role. We care most about demonstrated capability, judgment, and the ability to build trust and move complex work forward. You may come from Indigenous housing, community or economic development, government, utilities, energy, construction, consulting, program delivery, partnerships or another relevant background. We would like to see:
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong external relationships.
  • Experience working with Indigenous Nations, organizations or communities.
  • Experience coordinating complex projects, opportunities, or stakeholder groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence representing an organization externally.
  • Experience with funding programs, applications, government or utility programs is highly desirable.
  • Experience in partnerships, client development or business development is an asset.
  • Strong digital fluency and comfort learning new tools, systems and processes. What You Can Expect From Us You will be trusted with meaningful work early and given room to think, make decisions and grow your capability, with experienced people around you when you need support. You can expect:
  • Real ownership and autonomy.
  • Meaningful work with direct impact for Indigenous Nations, families and communities.
  • A supportive, experienced team.
  • Strong opportunities to learn and take on greater responsibility.
  • Flexible work arrangements.
  • Health and wellness benefits.
  • Unlimited vacation. We value diversity and inclusivity and strongly encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply. Your unique experiences and perspectives are invaluable to our work and community impact. At Kambo, we want you to do the best and most meaningful work of your career here.
