Type: Contract, hourly Location: Remote (Philippines) Schedule: Flexible About Expedock We are a tech-enabled workforce augmentation platform leveraging top 1% offshore talent & cutting edge technology to enable businesses to unlock their full potential. Who We Need We are seeking a Cell Biology Specialist with deep hands-on experience in high-content fluorescence microscopy to evaluate, annotate, and review scientific image datasets. In this role, you will apply domain expertise to judge biologically meaningful phenotypes, differentiate true cellular responses from assay or imaging artifacts, and help establish ground-truth labels for advanced bioimage analysis models. What You'll Do
- Scientific Image Annotation: Review and label high-content fluorescence microscopy images (e.g., Cell Painting assays) involving chemical or genetic perturbations.
- Quality Assurance & Artifact Identification: Distinguish between genuine biological phenomena and technical/imaging artifacts (edge effects, staining anomalies, debris, defocus).
- Label Protocol & Guideline Review: Collaborate with machine learning teams to refine labeling schemas, evaluation metrics, and benchmark datasets for cell biology tasks.
- Portfolio Presentation: Share concise summaries or representative samples of past cell biology image analysis or microscopy evaluation work to showcase technical familiarity. What You Need
- Academic Background: Hands-on laboratory experience in Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Biophysics, or a related life sciences field.
- Microscopy Experience: Direct bench experience with high-content screening (HCS), fluorescence microscopy, and Cell Painting or similar multi-channel assays.
- Phenotypic Analysis: Demonstrated capability in phenotypic screening, cellular morphology analysis, and interpreting chemical/genetic perturbation responses.
- Software Familiarity: Experience using image analysis tools (e.g., CellProfiler, ImageJ/Fiji, QuPath, or custom Python pipelines).
- Communication: Ability to clearly document edge cases and explain biological reasoning to non-biologist machine learning engineers.
