RN Shift Unit Supervisor Logan Health Chester | Critical Access Hospital Acute Care and Emergency Department Variable 12 hour shifts Are you a skilled RN with a passion for leading teams, supporting high quality patient care, and growing your leadership abilities while still working hands-on in a clinical setting?  This position is a Registered Nurse (RN) who is responsible for overseeing patient care and administrative activities within assigned units and areas of care delivery. Responsible for day-to-day departmental operations, including trauma coordination, education program coordination, staffing, and staff development. Supports the organization in fulfilling the mission, vision, and values of Logan Health. Current Montana RN License or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required.
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Masters in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business or related field preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year leadership experience required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive nursing experience required.
- Previous Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor experience preferred.
- RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first.
- ACLS within twelve (12) months of hire required.
- NRP within twelve (12) months of hire required.
- PALS within twelve (12) months of hire required.
- TNCC or ENPC within eighteen (18) months of hire required. Instructor preferred.
- STABLE within eighteen (18) months of hire required.
- Possess medical/clinical knowledge and technical skills for respective department(s)/unit(s).

- Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Job Specific Duties:
- Oversees day-to-day supervision and operational oversight of assigned patient care services, clinical programs, and patient care personnel.
- Conducts annual performance appraisals according to Human Resources guidelines. Provides regular, scheduled feedback to employees regarding performance. In partnership with leadership, contributes to hiring, corrective action and termination decisions.
- Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of patient care, clinical judgment, interpersonal skills, and communication skills of assigned staff.
- Promotes staffing compliance and ensures safe staffing assignments. Monitors staffing to achieve productivity and budget standards.
- Performs within the scope and standards of practice for Registered Professional Nurses in the state, as set forth by the current State Board of Nursing regulations, the American Nurses Association, and professional organizations specific to the specialty, to guide practice and standards within the workplace.
- Develops, revises, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and professional practice acts as applicable to assigned area(s).
- Serves as a role model by providing leadership expertise and serves as a clinical and administrative resource to others. Provides coaching and development opportunities for assigned staff.
- Serves as an advocate for the professional nursing practice. Works in conjunction with facility leadership to advance the practice of nursing and the delivery of care in a coordinated and supportive manner.
- Coordinates and oversees all activities related to the education program.
- Develops and implements educational courses, tools, and resources to support strategic plans and organizational goals. Provides education and training using effective learning principles and methodologies.
- Coordinates nursing operations across assigned service areas to ensure continuity of care, effective patient flow, and efficient utilization of personnel and resources.
- Promotes a culture of safety by encouraging reporting of quality, risk, and patient safety concerns. Participates in investigation, analysis, and implementation of corrective actions and process improvement.
- Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management activities. Assists with collecting and monitoring performance metrics and implementing process improvement initiatives. Participates in committees, task forces, and organizational projects as assigned.
- Leads the hiring process, preparation and delivery of evaluations and corrective action for assigned staff.
- Supervisors may be expected to perform the following tasks regularly:
- Creates work schedule and assigns employees to specific work tasks.
- Trains and/or coordinates the training of assigned staff.
- Oversees and coordinates successful completion of employees’ competency assessments and required training.
- Acts as point-of-contact/subject matter expert for assigned staff.
- Leads and/or coordinates compliance and quality efforts. Shift: Variable (United States of America) Schedule: Variable 12 hour shifts that support both leadership responsibilities and ongoing engagement in bedside nursing.
