There are over 150 employees in Facilities, including Project Managers, Energy and Commissioning Specialists, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Architects, and space Planners. The facilities capital and operating expenditures are in the range of $100M for the University’s $2.0 billion assets under management. The 20-year Capital spending plan envisions $4.0 billion of new investment highlighted by uOttawa launch of project Top Shelf, a $300 million capital investment to build a new facility for the Faculty of Health Sciences at uOttawa’s River Campus, as well as a tower at the Roger Guidon campus to house uOttawa’s new Advanced Medical Research Center (AMRC). Position purpose: Reporting to the Supervisor, Campus Maintenance and Operations, coordinates and supervises the various programs that provide transportation services on the main campus, including the Alta Vista area. Manages the transportation aspect of the University’s furniture recycling program, including transfers between various warehouses. Responsible for the maintenance of the Facilities service vehicle fleet. In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Manage the workload distribution for transportation requests and plan daily, weekly, and monthly workloads for moving crews and drivers to meet customer and convention/reservation requests.
- Establish, implement and enforce University safety policies, standards and procedures.
- Work in coordination with other departments to guide them in the preparation of their moves, set-ups (installation of tables, chairs, signs, etc.) during events or meetings and also for any other miscellaneous requests on campus. Provide support to clients with obtaining bids.
- Ensure optimal use of all resources and equipment and maximize cost effectiveness. Performs auditing of customer collectable costs. Compile invoices from service providers for final approval by the supervisor.
- Arranges for the safe and sanitary transportation of animals from the laboratory.
- Maintains the fleet of vehicles under the responsibility of the Facilities Department which consists of approximately 12 vehicles.
- Resolve, in collaboration with the supervisor, client disputes arising from the work performed by contractors and/or personnel under their responsibility.
- Carry out the transportation of furniture, light and heavy equipment, boxes, parcels, and envelopes across campus.
- Coordinate the logistics, transportation, and delivery of furniture as part of the institutional furniture recycling, reuse, and recovery program.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by their supervisor. What you will bring:
