Description The Human Resources Specialist serves as the primary onsite Human Resources representative for Pine Hall Brick's Fairmount, Georgia facility. This role provides support across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, employee engagement, benefits administration, compliance, and daily HR operations. The Human Resources Specialist acts as a liaison between employees, plant leadership, and the Human Resources Manager to ensure a positive employee experience and support operational success. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, building relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, and balancing administrative responsibilities with a strong employee-focused presence throughout the facility. Requirements Recruitment & Staffing
- Manage full-cycle recruitment activities for the Georgia operation.
- Coordinate job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, candidate communications, and hiring processes.
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies.
- Participate in job fairs, community outreach events, and workforce development initiatives.
- Maintain applicant tracking records and recruitment documentation.
- Coordinate pre-employment activities, including background checks, employment verification, and onboarding preparation. Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation programs.
- Ensure all employment documentation is completed accurately and timely.
- Assist employees with questions regarding company policies, procedures, benefits, and available resources.
- Conduct new hire follow-up meetings and support employee integration efforts.
- Support employee retention and engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events. Employee Relations & Communication
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns.
- Provide guidance on company policies, procedures, and workplace expectations.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the facility and establish positive working relationships with employees.
- Support employee communications and distribution of HR-related information.
- Escalate employee relations matters to the Human Resources Manager as appropriate.
- Promote a positive workplace culture through professional and respectful interactions. HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee personnel files and HR records.
- Support benefits administration, leave tracking, and HR programs.
- Assist with HR reporting, record retention, data entry, and documentation requirements.
- Coordinate training activities and maintain training records.
- Monitor compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Assist with policy implementation, investigations, audits, and compliance initiatives.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of HR systems and processes. Operational Support
- Distribute incoming mail and coordinate outgoing mail shipments.
- Maintain administrative records related to company vehicles, including registrations, inspections, and documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors, vendors, and miscellaneous walk-in inquiries.
- Assist with MSHA administrative requirements, including training records, documentation, and log maintenance.
- Coordinate the purchasing and inventory of safety supplies and PPE.
- Provide backup support for shipping office functions as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, recruiting, employee relations, or a related field required.
- Manufacturing, industrial, or production environment experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with remote and onsite leadership. Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and move throughout office and production environments for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to navigate the plant floor safely and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, email, and virtual meeting platforms. Work Schedule Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM Friday: 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM Occasional flexibility may be required to support recruiting events, training, employee meetings, or operational needs.
