Commercial Manager

APM Terminals Rijeka Gateway d.o.o. (RGW) , a joint venture between APM Terminals and ENNA Logic, is a modern container terminal and an important logistics hub for regional and international cargo flows. Rijeka Gateway continuously develops high standards of operational excellence, service quality and sustainable business practices. We are looking for an experienced, strategically minded and proactive commercial professional to lead Rijeka Gateway’s commercial strategy, grow business opportunities and build strong customer and partner relationships. Your role: As Commercial Manager, you will lead a smaller team and be responsible for developing and implementing Rijeka Gateway’s commercial strategy, delivering annual business objectives and strengthening relationships with existing and prospective customers. The role includes identifying new opportunities, developing supply chain solutions and working closely with shipping lines, freight forwarders, beneficial cargo owners, agents, port authorities and relevant governmental entities. Key responsibilities: Commercial strategy and business development · Set and deliver annual commercial objectives in line with Rijeka Gateway’s strategy and business plan · Develop and implement the terminal’s commercial strategy, including value propositions and sales and marketing programs aimed at revenue, profitability, volume and market-share objectives · Identify new business opportunities and develop logistics and supply chain solutions tailored to customer needs · Ensure high customer satisfaction through professional, reliable and high-quality service · Use internal and external data to guide sales, marketing and customer-related activities · Monitor performance against the annual plan and report on commercial progress, forecasts, market insights and comparative analyses Customer and stakeholder relationship management · Engage regularly with customers, business partners and key stakeholders to understand needs and timely address commercial matters · Develop and maintain effective cooperation with the shareholders’ commercial teams · Support Operations, Legal, Facility and HSSE teams in projects and dealings with customs and authorities on relevant terminal matters Governance, standards and risk management · Support the CEO and Management Board on commercial matters · Monitor commercial opportunities and risks, maintain appropriate records and develop mitigation strategies · Apply best commercial practices and ensure compliance with relevant company policies, procedures and HSSE standards Candidate Profile: · University degree in economics, trade, business administration or another relevant field · At least five years of relevant commercial experience in a related industry · Commercial experience in logistics, shipping, terminal business, asset management or a comparable environment · Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills · A strong team-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively across different organisational functions · Experience working with public authorities, customers and business stakeholders in a logistics or supply chain environment · Good understanding of port activities and container terminal operations · Advanced knowledge of sales and marketing processes and their practical application · Strong business development, customer relationship-building and solution-development capabilities in a competitive environment · Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills · High level of discipline, accountability, structure and consistency in following through on agreed actions and maintaining documentation · Experience working in an international and multicultural environment · Advanced spoken and written English; knowledge of Croatian is considered important for effective cooperation within the local business environment What we offer: · Permanent employment contract · Competitive remuneration and benefits package · Additional and supplementary health insurance · Opportunities for professional development and career growth · Work in a dynamic, international and growth-oriented environment · Opportunity to contribute to the continued development of Rijeka Gateway Reporting line and organisational position: · Reports directly to: Chairman of the Management Board / CEO · Member of the terminal’s senior management team APPLICATION We thank all candidates for their interest in joining the Rijeka Gateway team.
