Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior HR Generalist is the on-site HR presence at Slingshot and the primary day-to-day HR partner to the CEO and leadership team, owning the full people operations lifecycle including recruiting and onboarding, benefits and HRIS administration, employee records and compliance support, and performance and engagement programs. The ideal candidate is an organized, execution-oriented HR professional who is comfortable being the primary point of contact for HR at a fast-moving biotech, working directly with leadership day to day, and knowing when to lean on outside guidance for the harder calls. Responsibilities Benefits & HRIS Administration
• Administer day-to-day benefits, including enrollment, employee questions, and qualifying life event processing, in partnership with the benefits broker and carriers.
• Support annual open enrollment logistics and communications.
• Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS, process employee data changes, and run routine reports for Finance and leadership. Employee Relations & Compliance Support
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions and day-to-day employee relations matters, using the retained fractional HR advisor as a sounding board on complex or high-risk issues.
• Maintain audit-ready HR documentation and support compliance with California, federal, and applicable employment law requirements.
• Support investigations, separations, and related documentation. Performance Management & Employee Experience
• Administer the performance review cycle, including scheduling, tracking completion, and supporting managers with process questions.
• Maintain the Employee Handbook and HR policies, incorporating updates as directed.
• Support employee engagement and culture initiatives, including efforts to strengthen the company's presence. Requirements
• Minimum 4+ years of HR generalist/HRBP experience; life sciences, biotech, or other regulated environment a plus.
• Comfortable operating as the sole on-site HR presence, supporting leadership directly day to day, and using a retained fractional HR advisor as a resource for complex or higher-stakes matters.
• Working knowledge of California and federal employment law fundamentals.
• Experience with ATS platforms (Greenhouse preferred) and HRIS systems (NetSuite SuitePeople HR or equivalent).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple day-to-day workstreams.
• Clear, professional communication skills across all levels of the organization. Salary and Benefits: Our salary ranges are calculated by role and level. Your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. In addition to those factors, we also examine internal equity as well as consider current market rate, and title may be assessed one level lower or higher accordingly. After you join the company your performance, contributions, and results along with business and organizational needs will affect your base salary.
