Fitness Facility Manager NF-04

Summary This position is located on Fort Polk in Louisiana. At Fort Polk MWR, we take personal fitness and resiliency seriously. Our programs, gyms and activity centers provide support and entertainment for our active duty military and their families. The Fitness Facility Manager role is integral to the overall leadership of the fitness team. Duties

• Supervises and oversees the management of garrison fitness facilities, performing diverse management operations, including employee supervisory functions as well as all budgetary and operational management duties.
• Assesses facility requirements. Develops plans for projects to augment or replace fitness facilities, as the facility expert for construction projects, working with internal and external contractors on plans, schedules, objectives and impact of work.
• Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Instructs customers and monitors proper usage of equipment, as needed.
• Works under the direction of the Supervisory Community Recreation Coordinator.
• Conducts sports facility tours for VIPs. Assists in the preparation of MWR and DOD Baseline Standards data call reports. Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. Experience that includes the demonstrated ability to manage and operate complex multiple fitness facilities. The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. Highly Desirable: Candidates who possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and work experience as identified above. Possession of a nationally identified Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.
