Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join the Resource Industries Sales, Services & Technology (RISST) Division as a senior communications specialist. This position will report to the manager of RISST Division Communications and plays a key role in supporting strategic communications, both internally and externally. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor for key business initiatives, including the Electrification technology and industry portfolio. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and other key partners to advance our strategic priorities and culture through actionable communication plans. - Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to drive deep understanding, generate excitement and position Resource Industries’ solutions and services.
- Inspire senior leaders and business partners to drive the strategy forward through effective communication solutions, including storytelling and change management
- Ensure information management strategy and governance is upheld to promote and protect electrification and sustainability messaging
- Work across a large, matrixed organization to develop, own and execute comprehensive communications plans that drive business objectives of key leadership and segment partners.
- Collaborate with the extended communications network to create and deliver on a proactive editorial strategy, bringing stories to life through written, visual and verbal communications
- Analyze performance: Monitor communications to refine strategies and continuously improve engagement.
- Work cross-functionally to shape the reputation of key initiatives through external presentations, speeches, and other materials
- Uphold brand consistency: Maintain a consistent tone and style across all content, adhering to brand guidelines and voice
- Deliver lean and process excellence to enhance quality and accelerate delivery, ensuring streamlined, high-impact communications that make it easy for stakeholders to do business with RISST. What You Will Have:
- Education/experience: College or university degree in communications, marketing, or a related field and/or considerable job-related experience in corporate communications with proficiency in digital communication tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite
- Planning & organizing: Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects independently and with urgency;
- Outcomes focus: Big picture thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and align messaging and deliverables to key business objectives and strategies; Curiosity & business acumen.
- Communicating for impact: Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills; skilled at simplifying complex ideas, anticipating stakeholder needs and adjusting messaging to drive clarity and alignment
- Copywriting and editing: Strong content creation skills and the ability to edit for various audiences
- Interpersonal relationships: Outstanding relationship management; skilled at establishing and maintaining trust with customers, clients, peers and vendors; Strong curiosity and willingness to ask thoughtful questions to fully understand business and technical objectives.
- Risk management: The skill to identify, assess and mitigate communication-related risks, such as reputational damage or internal misunderstandings.
- Executive Partnership: Executive presence and previous experience directly supporting senior leaders. Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information. - Five or more years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, Executive Communications, or a related field.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, and deadlines.
- Proven ability to translate mining industry concepts into meaningful business narratives for non-technical audiences.
- Experience supporting both internal and external communications (executive communications, thought leadership initiatives, speaking engagements, media opportunities).
- Familiarity with generative AI tools and prompting techniques used for research, content creation, and communications planning.
- Experience working with global teams and stakeholders across multiple regions is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate sensitive business information. Additional info :

- International and domestic travel up to 10% Summary Pay Range: $112,710.00 - $169,060.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
