Department: Administrative Services Division: Purchasing Pay Range $35.14 - $49.14 Hourly Midpoint $42.14 Hourly Starting salaries generally fall between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Each offer depends on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, internal pay equity, and available budget. Salary offers are negotiated individually based on these factors.
Summary of Position
The Buyer position is a key partner in sourcing the materials and equipment required to keep our City running smoothly, from everyday supplies to specialized equipment. This position handles a range of intermediate-level tasks across the purchasing process. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this position has the independence to manage their own work, with the guidance and support to grow. Supplemental Information
- This is a full-time, in-person position with a typical Monday–Friday schedule of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Flexible scheduling options, including a 9/80 schedule with alternating Fridays off, may be available. Selection will be based on overall qualifications, skills testing (if applicable), and an interview process. The final candidate selected will be subject to a comprehensive background/reference check commensurate to the position.
Minimum Qualifications Education
& EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of experience in administrative support or record-keeping
- Two (2) years in a purchasing or buying environment. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Desired Qualifications
- Intermediate or higher skill level with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Previous experience in a purchasing or buying environment with a municipality involving a formal bidding process.
- Prior customer service experience, assisting internal and external customers.
- Prior experience in public records and records retention.
