SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN

Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the NAF Accounting Office on Ellsworth AFB. You are also eligible for NAF benefits such as: Guaranteed 35 hours Health & Dental Insurance Life Insurance 401k with Employer Matching Contribution AFNAF Retirement Plan with Employer Contribution Paid Time Off and Paid Sick Leave Paid Federal Holidays Tuition Assistance Duties Performs a full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual methods for income and expense reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory, and general ledger. Provides supervision, training, and accounting guidance for accounting technicians and activity personnel in the income and expense reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, inventory', and payroll areas. Prepares monthly balances, reconciles accounts, and recommends final monthly statement completion. Reviews financial statements and subsidiary accounts for out-of-balance conditions, determines cause for all imbalances, approves/makes required adjustments to balance statements and accounts. Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include: selection, promotion, reassignment, and discipline of personnel. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in Non-Appropriated fund accounting. Must also have experience in work which provided a comprehensive knowledge of double-entry accrual accounting methods, procedures and techniques used in maintaining and analyzing all classes of accounts in accounting systems encompassing a number of diversified activities. Must have knowledge of the requirements, techniques, procedures, and practices of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Must complete the requirements for a S 10,000 purchasing warrant within I year of appointment. Must also have experience for receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, or other processing of cash items when this includes direct handling of cash items and use of cash accountability control methods. Must have good oral and written skills. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
