Engage continuous monitoring for facility readiness. Conduct inspections to identify potential hazards, and reference facility occupation manuals to implement most recent updated or specified safety protocols. Follow specified details from Infection Control and coordinate the implementation of preventative activities and make data based recommendations. Construct analysis reports, make recommendations for operational plans, and provide technical guidance to facility staff, and use advanced skills in automated systems to produce for writing, processing, and presentation of data. REQUIREMENTS This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR)In order to qualify for this position, you must meet one of the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) options for the Supervisory Safety and Occupational Health Specialist (Safety Officer) position. Completed a undergraduate or higher level degree in a major -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. Experience in one (1) of the following specialties such as managing safety or occupational health program elements; developing and recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management; applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards; developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses; analyzing or evaluating new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards; designing or modifying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems to control or eliminate hazards; inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards; training of workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subjects; work in occupational fields such as industrial hygienist, safety engineer, fire prevention engineer, health physicist, and occupational health nurse. Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination. (You must provide copy of certification with your resume). In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-11: One (1) year of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples Include: continuous monitoring of acquisition contracts through all phases, from inception through completion; provide technical guidance throughout the procurement and acquisition process; monitor and documenting contractor performance; analyze quotations and proposals; certify inspection and acceptance of goods and services; review and process contractor invoices and supporting documentation; and use of automated financial and acquisition systems for reporting, obligations, expenditures, invoice processing, and reconciliation.

or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree related to the Safety Occupation. GS-12: One (1) year of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples Include: Guide divisional leadership through safety process and follow up for compliance. Implement updated safety policy and engage protocol activities. Create preventative plans and make data-based recommendations to reduce facility vulnerability. Analyze facility data and forecast organizational plans, write updated safety policies and present recommendations to facility leadership. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
