Description McIver Clinic has been a trusted provider of urological care in Jacksonville since 1921. With multiple locations throughout the greater Jacksonville area and more than 27 providers, we provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to our community. McIver Clinic is seeking an experienced and dependable PRN Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our Office-Based Surgery Center team. This position provides nursing care to patients before and after outpatient procedures and supports a safe, efficient, and positive patient experience throughout their visit. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment, communicates effectively with patients and coworkers, and can independently assess patients and recognize changes in their condition. Essential Responsibilities Pre-Procedure Nursing
- Complete nursing assessments and verify patient readiness for scheduled procedures.
- Review medical history, allergies, medications, laboratory results, and required clearances.
- Verify required documentation and consents.
- Obtain and document vital signs and other required assessments.
- Initiate and maintain IV access as appropriate.
- Administer medications in accordance with provider orders and facility policies.
- Provide patients and caregivers with information regarding procedures, recovery, and discharge.
- Communicate abnormal findings or concerns to the appropriate provider or anesthesia team. Recovery Nursing
- Provide nursing care to patients during the post-procedure recovery period.
- Monitor patients and assess respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and overall condition.
- Monitor pain, nausea, and procedure sites and provide appropriate interventions.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate provider.
- Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and facility policies.
- Assess patients for readiness for discharge based on established criteria.
- Provide clear discharge instructions to patients and designated caregivers.
- Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation. Clinical Support
- Provide nursing support for outpatient urology and interventional radiology procedures.
- Monitor patients for potential complications and changes in condition.
- Monitor procedural and vascular access sites as applicable.
- Provide care following general anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and procedural sedation as applicable.
- Reinforce procedure-specific discharge instructions.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, surgical technologists, radiology personnel, and administrative staff. Position Details

- Shifts scheduled based on patient volume and staffing needs Requirements
- Current, active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience in PACU, pre-operative nursing, perioperative services, procedural nursing, critical care, emergency nursing, or a comparable setting.
- Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
