Summary About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states

• Operate trucks to transport a variety of cargo such as heavy industrial equipment, combat tactical vehicles, and tanks.
• Complete daily trip tickets in accordance with Motor Vehicle Operator policies and procedures.
• Check weight limitations of vehicles operated in accordance to state law regulations.
• Determine best vehicle to use to transport cargo to its destination.
• Ensure cargo is properly distributed to prevent shifting while in transit.
• Apply the dual breaking system for combination vehicles to prevent jackknifing. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision to include 1) checking weight limitations of vehicles operated in accordance to state law regulations; 2) determining best vehicle to use to transport cargo to its destination; and 3) performing maintenance checks to ensure vehicles are in proper working order.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Exert moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on tractors to hook up service lines, and climbing on trailers to load and tie down cargo. Occasionally heavy lifting is required such as handling cans and up to 100 pounds. Frequently required to bend, reach, and work in awkward positions. Work on top of equipment at heights up to 18 feet above ground. Working Conditions: Operate vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on interstate highway and exposed to the danger of serious accidents. May drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
