Description The Tool Room Welder must be skilled in fabrication, assembling and repairing metal components through the use of various welding processes. These include but are not limited to GTAW, GMAW, as well utilizing an OF torch. The Tool Room Welder must possess a high level of understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, WPSs, and PQRs, as well as the ability to understand and follow work orders to ensure accurate fabrication and a high degree of quality across all TDS products. Essential Functions
- Understands the GMAW & GTAW welding processes, has the ability to operate safely and follow WPS.
- Ability to safely use metalworking tools, including, but not limited to, thermal cutting and grinding equipment.
- Repair weld defects and structural components in accordance with work instructions and applicable AWS codes.
- Read and correctly interpret blueprints, WPS’s/PQR’s, and follow verbal instructions to create finished components.
- Accurately measure and lay out components and systems for welding and/or cutting using metalworking tools, including tape measures, scales, and squares.
- Document work performed and communicate project status, material needs and potential issues to appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and tool makers to complete fabrication and/or repairs to the project.
- May be required to pass employer performance tests and/or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.
- Must maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following company safety procedures.
- Participates in specialized training as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Understands and complies with requirements of the QMS, AS9100, and/or ISO 9001.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Travel as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Additional work hours as needed. Requirements
- Must have a minimum of six (6) months of technical training in welding or equivalent experience, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent skill and ability.
- Strong knowledge and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to perform shop mathematics calculations, including trigonometric and algebraic functions.
- Knowledge of operation and function of basic welding equipment including Mig and Tig welding equipment and oxy-acetylene cutting torch.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other powered material handling and transport equipment. Preferred:
