• Conduct road tests for operational checks.
• Repair mechanical systems to restore equipment to fully operational status.
• Troubleshoot engines and transmissions to isolate mechanical and systemic failures.
• Operate all types of equipment to determine malfunctions and repairs. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common which includes analyzing diagnostic data on equipment to quickly detect mechanical malfunctions, providing technical training for vehicle repairs, and operating test equipment to conduct diagnostic evaluations. I can assemble heavy engines to meet technical specifications and utilize hand tools to restore full serviceability on equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Troubleshooting Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works in tiring and uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. Requires frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing over large heavy equipment, working on top of and under equipment, and in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently lifts, carries and moves items weighing over 50 pounds and exerts considerable physical effort in pushing, pulling, turning and positioning items. Utilizes hoists, jacks, overhead bridge crane, and assistance of other workers when heavier items are encountered. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and frequently outdoors in all types of weather. There is exposure to drafts, loud noise, dirt, oils, grease, hydraulic fluid, and the possibility of cuts, burns, sprains, bruises and skin irritations from fluids and lubricants. Observes established safety practices by wearing protective or safety equipment such as ear plugs or muffs, safety shoes, protective eye glasses, face shield, goggles, gloves, rubber aprons and hard hats.
