Hiring Unit: Department of Physiology Course Title: Research Techniques in Physiology Course Code: PHGY 351 Estimated Number of Positions: 4 Total Hours of Work per Term: 20 Position Summary:

• Help run the weekly quizzes and marking. Lab related Work : Prepare the experiments and demonstrate critical steps for the labor experiments listed below:
• Tissue culture cells growing and propagation site directed mutagenesis -PCR-,
• Bacterial transformation,
• Minipreps
• Restriction digestion and analysis,
• DNA sequencing analysis • ​Transient transfection and mounting slides for confocal microscopy
• Help to prepare the flow cytometry datasets needed for the data analysis sessions.
• Share the flow cytometry datasets with the students, ensuring all students managed to download the data ahead of the class.
• Advise students in advance of the class how to download the free trial version of FlowJo software, troubleshooting any technical issues.
• Attend the lab sessions, monitor the chat section of the Zoom meeting to answer questions and troubleshoot problems.
• Grade lab reports Qualifications:
• B.Sc. in Science
• Registered graduate student at McGill University
• Experience in protein trafficking, cell culture and microscopy
