Description Who We Are At Panorama Eyecare, we are not just a team; we are a community of dedicated professionals united in our quest to provide the best eyecare anywhere. Our unflinching commitment to excellence and our core values are what make us an Employer of Choice. Join us in shaping the future of eyecare as we thrive together! The Role Panorama Eyecare is seeking a Director of Information Technology to lead the technology strategy, infrastructure, and systems supporting our growing multi-site optometry and ophthalmology practice network. This role owns the organization's EHR and practice management platforms, information security and HIPAA compliance posture, IT integration of newly acquired practices, and day-to-day infrastructure and help desk operations across all locations. The Director partners closely with clinical operations, revenue cycle, and executive leadership to ensure technology reliably supports patient care, staff productivity, and the company's acquisition-driven growth strategy. Key Responsibilities: EHR & Practice Management Systems
- Own the strategy, performance, and governance of the organization's EHR and practice management (PM) platforms (e.g., ModMed, Promptly, NextGen) across all locations.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts for clinical and PM software, including uptime SLAs, upgrades, and licensing.
- Oversee system configuration, data integrity, integrations with billing/revenue cycle and patient engagement tools, and end-user training and support.
- Chair or co-lead an EHR/PM governance process to prioritize enhancement requests and resolve cross-clinic workflow conflicts. HIPAA Security & Compliance
- Own the organization's information security program, ensuring compliance with the HIPAA Security Rule, HITECH, and applicable state data privacy requirements.
- Lead regular risk assessments, vulnerability management, and remediation planning; maintain security policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
- Manage business associate agreements (BAAs) and third-party vendor security reviews; partner with the Compliance Officer on audits and breach-notification procedures.
- Administer access controls, endpoint protection, encryption, and security awareness training for all staff handling protected health information (PHI). M&A / New-Clinic IT Integration
- Lead IT due diligence for prospective practice acquisitions, assessing existing systems, contracts, and data migration complexity.
- Own the end-to-end IT onboarding playbook for newly acquired practices: network setup, hardware provisioning, EHR/PM data migration or cutover, and staff systems training.
- Coordinate integration timelines with operations and clinical leadership to minimize disruption to patient care during transitions.
- Continuously refine the integration playbook to shorten time-to-go-live as the acquisition pace increases. Infrastructure & Help Desk Operations
- Direct network infrastructure (WAN/LAN, Wi-Fi, VoIP/phone systems) and cloud/on-premise systems across all practice locations and the corporate office.
- Own help desk operations and service levels, ensuring timely resolution of staff and clinic technology issues.
- Manage the hardware lifecycle for workstations, servers, and clinical equipment interfaces, including procurement, deployment, and end-of-life replacement.
- Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including backup systems and downtime procedures for clinical operations.
- Manage IT vendor relationships (ISPs, MSPs, hardware and software vendors) and negotiate contracts to control cost and ensure service quality. Leadership & Planning
- Build, mentor, and manage the IT team as the organization scales, including help desk, systems administration, and security functions.
- Develop and manage the annual IT capital and operating budget in partnership with the COO and CFO.
- Present technology roadmap, risk posture, and project updates to executive leadership and, as needed, the Board.
- Serve as the primary technology partner to clinical operations, revenue cycle, and marketing on patient-facing systems such as patient portals and telehealth tools.
- Additional job duties as assigned. Requirements Who You Are Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 8+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 3-5 years in a multi-site or healthcare environment; experience with a physician practice management organization (MSO) or private-equity-backed healthcare company strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ophthalmology/optometry EHR and practice management systems (e.g., ModMed, NextGen, or similar) strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of the HIPAA Security Rule, HITECH, and healthcare data security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF); experience running risk assessments and security programs.
- Demonstrated experience leading IT integration for practice acquisitions or comparable multi-site technology rollouts.
- Strong background in network infrastructure, cloud services (e.g., Azure/AWS), VoIP telephony, and IT vendor/contract management.
- Proven people-management experience, including building and leading distributed IT teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for clinical staff and executive stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications a plus: CISSP, CISM, PMP, or ITIL.
- Willingness to travel periodically to practice locations across Wyoming and Colorado. Additional Job Details:
