Job Description Summary As the Senior Systems Administration Engineer, your role is responsible to technically design, build and maintain the IT infrastructure for the Naval areas in UK as well as to work with Coretech or other partner in maintaining the IT infrastructure for the Non-naval areas in UK. Your main scope for this role will be to work in projects to deploy or refresh, adapt or retire the infrastructure according with the business priorities and requirements, but it is also expected to have the Sr Systems Administration Engineer acting to close high-priority or high-impact incidents. During the execution of the projects, you will be responsible to interact with different stakeholders, both internal and external, to get requirements and discuss technical alternatives to deliver the best solution for the business. On top of having the technical work executed in the infrastructure, it is also your responsibility to keep all the documentation of the environment build and updated according with the best practices or with the requirements of MoD and IT. Job Description Role Summary / Purpose: The Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Workplace Services contributes to the development of UK infrastructure and workplace technology standards and roadmaps, providing leadership and management of the Infrastructure, Networks and End User Services teams, ensuring services are secure, resilient, supportable and aligned to business priorities. The role provides senior operational ownership within its defined area, translating business, cyber and operational requirements into practical technology plans and service improvements. Working closely with the DT management team, cyber security, regional and global technology teams, the role will lead the modernisation of infrastructure services, reduce technical debt, and strengthen operational resilience across corporate and secure environments. Key Responsibilities ● Lead network infrastructure design, implementation, support, and improvement across corporate, regulated, and secure environments. ● Own the design, delivery, support, and continual improvement of LAN, WAN, wireless, remote access, endpoint, and associated infrastructure services. ● Reduce technical debt through modernising of infrastructure, improving resilience, and simplifying support models. ● Own the infrastructure lifecycle roadmap, include refresh planning, upgrades, and site deployments. ● Own the governance, planning, assurance of patching, vulnerability remediation and infrastructure change across regulated UK environments in line with UK MoD and NSCS standards. ● Develop a team across infrastructure, networks and End User Services (EUS) teams, setting clear standards for service quality, ownership and accountability. ● Coordinate major infrastructure changes, upgrades and site deployments with minimal disruption to engineering, manufacturing, and business operations. ● Drive continuous improvement in monitoring, resilience, security and user experience. ● Promote high standards of quality, ownership, and accountability, including flexibility to work out-of-hours when required to protect business operations. ● Act as a senior responsible person for network, infrastructure, and end-user technology services, ensuring alignment between business priorities, cyber security obligations, corporate standards and operational delivery. ● Promote cross-team visibility of planned work and its broader impact, fostering collaboration and shared ownership of outcomes. ● Proactively identify and implement improvements for better user experience as part of the UK regulatory environment. ● Explain difficult or sensitive service, risk, and technical issues to business stakeholders, using clear evidence and recommendations to support decision making. ● Collaborate with the global and regional CTO teams Qualifications / Requirements
- Significant experience leading and managing similar teams in secure environments.
- Proven experience managing, LAN, WAN, wireless, and compute estates.
- Proven ability to lead support teams in regulated and secure environments.
- Relevant professional certifications are desirable, such as ITIL, Cisco, Microsoft, Fortinet, VMware, Azure, or security accreditations. Desired Characteristics
