LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Summary The primary purpose of this position is to exercise first level supervisory and managerial authorities to military subordinates, over the Logistics Operations and Compliance in the Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS). Duties Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Logistics Operations and Compliance. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization, supply and transportation objectives. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors. Represents the Logistics Readiness Squadron on a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Plans, directs and prepares recurring and special reports to ensure the efficient and effective operation of squadron. Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats such as graphics or table within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Logistics Management Series, 0346. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency logistics concepts, principles, practices, procedures, regulations and laws applicable to a full range of logistics management responsibilities. Ability to conduct significant interpretation of interstate commerce laws and regulations for application to achieve national security readiness requirements for the wing. Work requires considerable skill in applying this knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments and or to identify, analyze, and resolve logistics management issues or problems. Knowledge of a wide range of logistics concepts in warehousing, transportation, fleet management, supply and logistics planning to provide technical guidance to the development of program goals, plans, policies, and procedures and work plans dealing with the development of wing strategic visions, to evaluate overall logistics efficiency and effectiveness of program operations and recommend improvements. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations and recommend improvements. Knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the organization. Knowledge and skill in adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. Requirement for General Schedule

(GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of logistics management operations that include supply and transportation policies, practices, techniques and laws and of standard base supply system computer policies, procedures and programs. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and apprise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Ability identify, analyze, and translate complex information and to evaluate options concerning the effectiveness and efficiency of supply programs and operations. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
