Lead Platform Engineer (Power Platform / D365)

Job Type: Permanent Build a brilliant future with Hiscox Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Lead to drive the technical direction of our Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform initiatives. This is a pivotal role within the Platform team, responsible for leading a team of 4–8 developers, mentoring talent, and delivering high-quality, scalable solutions that support business transformation. About You You will have broad technical expertise across the software development lifecycle and a passion for mentoring and developing a high performing team. This is a demanding role and the successful candidate will be motivated, organised, and self-starting. You will be based in our Lisbon office (we operate a hybrid/flexible working system) and be prepared to travel to our UK York office to maintain close relationships with the wider team. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership

• Architect and implement tailored solutions using Dynamics 365 and Power Platform technologies.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of bespoke applications and integrations.
• Provide hands-on support and guidance to developers, ensuring best practices and technical excellence. SDLC Ownership
• Support the full software development lifecycle from design through development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Ensure all stages of the SDLC are well-documented, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with SRE and support teams for smooth handovers and operational readiness. Team Management & Mentoring
• Line manage and coach a team of developers, fostering growth and technical capability.
• Oversee performance, career development, and technical mentoring.
• Manage third-party resources as needed for burst capacity. Governance & Standards
• Establish and enforce development standards and processes.
• Monitor adherence and remediate deviations.
• Ensure solutions meet quality, security, and supportability benchmarks. Stakeholder Management & Requirements Translation
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical designs and delivery plans (business ↔ engineering).
• Facilitate workshops and technical discovery to shape solution scope, priorities, and delivery increments.
• Communicate trade-offs clearly (cost, time, risk, maintainability) and drive alignment across business and engineering. Platform Strategy, Roadmap & Architecture Forums
• Contribute to platform strategy and roadmap for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and transformation goals.
• Participate in (and help lead) architectural decision-making forums, ensuring consistent patterns, reusable components, and sound technical governance.
• Maintain architectural documentation and decision records to improve transparency and reduce delivery risk. Release Management, Environments & DevOps Automation in alignment with company standards and CoE Team
• Own release management practices, including versioning, deployment readiness, rollback planning, and release communications.
• Define and improve environment strategy (e.g., dev/test/uat/prod), including access controls, data management, and lifecycle policies.
• Drive DevOps automation expectations for build/release pipelines, quality gates, and repeatable deployments across Power Platform/D365 solutions. Security & Compliance (Power Platform/D365)
• Ensure security and compliance practices are embedded across delivery, including ALM discipline and environment governance.
• Implement and maintain policies specific to Power Platform/D365 (e.g., DLP policies), ensuring solutions meet enterprise security and supportability requirements.
• Work with security, risk, and compliance stakeholders to ensure controls are documented, auditable, and operationally sustainable. Required Skills & Experience
• Expertise in Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365.
• Experience with .NET development is a plus.
• Ability to mentor and influence engineers and manage technical teams.
• Comfortable with hands-on development and full lifecycle ownership.
• Broad technical background beyond certifications, with real-world delivery experience. Preferred / Advantageous
• Certification such as Dynamics 365 + Power Platform Solution Architect is advantageous. Why Hiscox?
