Freese and Nichols is seeking a Hydrogeologist in Denver, Colorado . As Hydrogeologist, you will apply your groundwater expertise to support water supply planning and development projects, working independently on technical assignments while collaborating with project teams and clients on groundwater solutions. What You’ll Do
- Collect, process and analyze hydrogeologic data for groundwater availability, feasibility, design and water supply projects
- Develop groundwater availability studies, conceptual models, aquifer characterization studies and groundwater models
- Support planning, permitting and design for groundwater supply projects, including well fields, aquifer storage and recovery, brackish groundwater development and injection wells
- Design and conduct aquifer pumping tests and water quality analyses to evaluate groundwater supplies
- Oversee exploration and water well drilling, well construction and development, aquifer testing, downhole geophysical surveys and water quality sampling
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, subcontractors and project teams to support project schedules, budgets and technical objectives
- Prepare technical analyses, methodologies and findings for inclusion in project reports and other client deliverables
- Support project managers with project planning and execution and manage small, well-defined assignments or projects as appropriate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in hydrology, geology, hydrogeology, water resources engineering or a comparable engineering discipline
- 3+ years of related hydrologic or hydrogeologic experience applying standard technical methods, procedures and criteria
- Experience collecting, analyzing and interpreting groundwater or hydrogeologic data
- Ability to work independently on assigned technical tasks while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary project teams
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly through written reports, analyses and coordination with project teams and clients Preferred
- Experience with groundwater supply development, aquifer characterization, well field development or aquifer storage and recovery projects
- Experience with groundwater flow modeling or geologic interpretation software such as MODFLOW, Groundwater Vistas, Python, AQTESOLV, RockWorks or ArcGIS
- Experience designing or evaluating aquifer pumping tests and groundwater quality investigations
- Experience providing field oversight for water well drilling, construction, development, testing or geophysical surveys
- Experience supporting groundwater permitting, planning or water supply studies The annual salary range for this position is $66,550 - $93,170 and is dependent on candidate's qualifications as compared to minimum and preferred requirements. Exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay at a straight-time hourly rate for any hours over forty (40) hours per week. Employees are eligible for annual bonuses and amounts are determined by company profitability and growth, and for employees at higher compensation grades, group and personal performance are also considered.
