Job Description Summary GE Vernova’s Hydro Power business is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to join its North America Contract Management team. Reporting to the North America Contract Management Leader, the Contract Manager will provide contractual and commercial leadership for major hydroelectric projects in British Columbia. Contract Management at GE Vernova is integrated into project delivery from the bidding and negotiation stages through execution, close-out, and warranty. In this role, you will develop and implement project-specific contractual strategies, manage commercial risk, support negotiations, lead change and claims management activities, and protect GE Vernova’s contractual interests throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a strong background in EPC or other complex project environments, demonstrated negotiation and stakeholder-management capabilities, and the ability to provide clear contractual guidance to cross-functional project teams. Experience working with public utilities, public-sector organizations, or other sophisticated infrastructure customers is highly valued. Scope of the Role

  • Support one or more large-scale hydroelectric projects, primarily in British Columbia.
  • Provide flexibility to support projects elsewhere in Western Canada as business needs evolve.
  • Serve as a senior contractual advisor to project leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Operate as a senior individual contributor with significant influence across project organizations.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to less-experienced contract management professionals, as appropriate. Your Impact
  • Lead the contractual management of hydroelectric projects from the bidding stage through execution, close-out, and warranty.
  • Protect and strengthen GE Vernova’s commercial and contractual position through disciplined contract execution.
  • Develop and implement contractual strategies aligned with each project’s objectives, risks, obligations, and opportunities.
  • Reduce contractual exposure while supporting the identification and realization of project opportunities.
  • Promote compliance, transparency, timely escalation, and effective decision-making throughout the contract lifecycle. Key Responsibilities End-to-End Contract Management
  • Manage the contractual aspects of assigned projects from bid preparation through execution, close-out, and warranty.
  • Draft, review, and tailor commercial and contractual clauses based on project requirements and the applicable contractual framework.
  • Participate in the negotiation and finalization of contracts, amendments, change orders, and other commercial arrangements with customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare contractual notices, amendments, change submissions, claims, and other formal communications in accordance with contract requirements and internal governance.
  • Ensure project teams understand and appropriately apply contractual rights, responsibilities, and obligations.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director and project teams to develop, communicate, and implement mitigation measures and opportunity plans.
  • Support project teams in establishing performance indicators and action plans for contractual risk and opportunity management. Contract Strategy and Risk Management
  • Analyze contracts to identify risks, opportunities, deviations, assumptions, and key areas requiring ongoing attention.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the contract management plan for each assigned project.
  • Provide recommendations that protect GE Vernova’s commercial and contractual interests while supporting successful project delivery.
  • Ensure relevant contractual obligations are appropriately incorporated into supplier and subcontractor agreements on a back-to-back basis, where applicable.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategies related to changes, claims, dispute avoidance, and dispute resolution.
  • Manage contractual notices, changes, claims, disputes, and insurance-related matters, as required.
  • Build effective working relationships with key representatives within customer and partner organizations. Change, Claims, and Dispute Management
  • Identify potential contractual entitlement and exposure arising from delays, disruptions, scope changes, variations, and other project events.
  • Ensure notices and supporting documentation are prepared and issued within the time frames established by the contract.
  • Develop clear, well-supported contractual positions for changes, claims, and negotiations.
  • Coordinate major claims and dispute-related matters with Project Leadership, Legal, Finance, and other relevant functions.
  • Support dispute-avoidance strategies and recommend practical solutions to complex contractual and commercial issues.
  • Preserve GE Vernova’s contractual rights through timely communication, documentation, and escalation. Stakeholder Collaboration and Project Governance
  • Work closely with Project Management, Commercial Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Finance, Legal, Sourcing, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Advise project teams on contractual issues and contribute to informed commercial and operational decision-making.
  • Track contractual commitments and ensure contractual information is communicated effectively across the project organization.
  • Participate regularly in project risk and opportunity reviews.
  • Support project teams in identifying and implementing risk-mitigation and opportunity-capture plans.
  • Escalate material contractual and commercial issues openly and promptly to ensure visibility, alignment, and timely resolution.
  • Maintain constructive professional relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, rigor, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Contract Compliance and Performance Monitoring
  • Monitor compliance with contractual terms and document deviations when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain tools for tracking obligations, milestones, notices, changes, claims, and other contractual events.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of contractual records and ensure the traceability of key decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage and analyze incoming and outgoing correspondence with customers and partners.
  • Establish and maintain commercial procedures related to correspondence, notifications, insurance, delays, variations, and claims documentation.
  • Provide regular contractual risk assessments and updates to project and functional leadership through established project-governance processes.
  • Ensure contractual notices, correspondence, records, and supporting documentation are timely, complete, reliable, and maintained in accordance with internal governance and evidentiary requirements. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Business, Finance, Law, or a related technical or commercial discipline.
  • A minimum of eight years of demonstrated contract management experience in complex project environments such as EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy, power generation, or other major industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian energy or infrastructure sector.
