As a Staff Accountant, you’ll support daily accounting operations and financial reporting while helping ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across the property. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys balancing accounting support, financial analysis, reporting, and operational collaboration. You’ll work closely with Finance leadership and hotel departments to support reconciliations, reporting, audits, and day-to-day accounting activities that help drive hotel success. - Support daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, payroll support, and cash management activities.
- Prepare and maintain financial reports, operational analysis, account reconciliations, and supporting accounting documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, operational reporting, and financial reporting deadlines.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, labor analysis, invoice processing, and operational finance initiatives across hotel departments.
- Review financial transactions, invoices, expense reports, and operational records for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Partner closely with Finance leadership, Human Resources, Operations, Front Office, and other hotel departments to support business operations and financial accuracy.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, operational files, audit documentation, and financial reporting systems.
- Assist with audits, inventory reviews, purchasing controls, vendor management, and operational finance projects as needed.
- Maintain strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems, PMS platforms, procurement systems, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, accounting efficiency, and operational finance processes across the property.
- Help foster a collaborative, analytical, and business-focused culture aligned with Sonesta’s People People philosophy.
- Any other duties as assigned. What great looks like
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, Business, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred.
- 1+ years of accounting, hospitality finance, hotel accounting, or financial reporting experience preferred.
- Previous Staff Accountant, Accounting Coordinator, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Finance Assistant, or hospitality accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, financial reporting, and operational accounting processes.
- Experience using hotel accounting systems, PMS platforms, Excel, procurement systems, and financial reporting tools preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, compliance, operational efficiency, and financial integrity.
- Positive attitude with a collaborative, dependable, and team-oriented mindset.
- CPA track, accounting certifications, or hospitality finance experience preferred.
- Flexible availability including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and operational support as needed.
- A passion for hospitality, financial operations, teamwork, operational excellence, and supporting exceptional guest experiences through strong business performance.
