Capability Life Cycle Manager (CLCM) The CLCM is integrated into the System Program Office (SPO) and contracted to deliver through-life asset management of Products being supported (PBS). The CLCM performs asset, sustainment and engineering functions to optimise availability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and minimise risk through life of the PBS. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with Regional Maintenance Centre’s (RMC) to plan maintenance activities and installation of capability upgrades. The CLCM works collaboratively via the SPO with the Design Services Contract (DSC) to plan and execute engineering changes and services. The CLCM delivers functions against the contract scope across the Asset Class Enterprise to support Defence Maritime Capability. The Opportunity: Join KBR as a Mechanical Engineer and play a key role in supporting the delivery of engineering services across critical ship mechanical and auxiliary systems. Working closely with the Engineering Lead, you will provide trusted technical advice to Commonwealth representatives, stakeholders and fellow CLCM Engineers, helping to ensure safe, effective and sustainable platform outcomes. As a recognised SME, you will contribute expert guidance across a broad range of platform systems, including Sea Water, Fresh Water, Oily Waste, Sewage, HVAC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as mechanical handling and lifting equipment on the PBS. You will collaborate with a diverse stakeholder network to address complex technical challenges, support engineering activities and drive engineering excellence. This position offers the opportunity to exercise your engineering delegation, apply risk-based technical judgement and influence sustainment activities in support of the ACSSPO Principal Engineer on Products Being Supported (PBS). Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision provide Mechanical Engineering Subject Matter Expertise, technical guidance, leadership and direction in support of the Engineering activities required of the CLCM.
  • Perform activities directed by the CLCM Engineering Lead and ACSSPO Principal Engineer (PE) as required.
  • Deliver engineering activities to ensure compliance with approved policy, plans and processes. Conduct work to the requirements of the Engineering Management Plan.
  • Develop tasking statements for design tasks to be executed in accordance with the planned schedule.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop design solutions and requirements in the context of Engineering Change Management, Configuration management, Systems Safety and Certification.
  • Review engineering design task deliverables and conduct associated technical Design Reviews.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments within the limits of engineering delegation.
  • Work within and to the requirements of Navy Seaworthiness framework and the ACSSPO Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
  • Verify new Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) against the approved Requirements baseline, Certification Basis and Safety Case Report on the PBS.
  • Manage Request for Variations (RFV) assigned prior to expiry date to Return to Standard (RTS), Make Permanent or cancellation.
  • Under general supervision, independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, systems integration, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. As the ideal candidate you will bring: Essential:
  • Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent, qualification in a recognised Engineering related discipline;
  • Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review and Acceptance within a regulated technical framework, example Department of Defence.
  • Hold, or be eligible for, membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineering;
  • A minimum of 10 years related experience.
  • Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems. Desirable:
  • Experience in a Department of Defence design delivery.
  • Experience in marine design or maintenance. All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
