Senior QA Engineer

Job Title: Senior QA Engineer Department: Quality Assurance Location: Mumbai (on-site, Monday to Friday Work From Office) Experience: 4+ years About the Role: We are looking for an experienced Senior QA Engineer to own end-to-end quality for one or more of our product areas spanning mobile apps, embedded device firmware, and cloud services. You will drive test strategy, lead release sign-offs, build and extend test automation, and mentor junior testers. This role suits someone who is equally comfortable doing deep exploratory testing on a physical device and writing automation code that runs in CI. Key Responsibilities:

• Own the test strategy, test planning, and release quality for an assigned product area, from requirement review through production sign-off.
• Review PRDs and technical designs early, identify gaps, edge cases, and risks, and influence the team toward testable, robust designs.
• Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive functional, regression, integration, performance, and compatibility test suites across Android/iOS apps, device firmware, and backend APIs.
• Build and maintain automated test suites (mobile UI, API, and device-level) and integrate them into the CI/CD pipeline; drive automation coverage targets for your area.
• Lead root-cause analysis of complex, intermittent, and hardware–software interaction issues (connectivity, OTA, audio/video, sensor behaviour, app–device sync) using logs, device tools, and debugging utilities.
• Define and track quality metrics (defect leakage, test coverage, automation pass rate, release readiness) and present release quality status to engineering and product stakeholders.
• Act as the QA point of contact for developers, product managers, and support teams for your area; triage production escalations and drive them to closure.
• Mentor and review the work of junior testers, establish best practices for test case design and bug reporting, and contribute to the team's QA process and tooling improvements.
• Contribute to release planning, risk assessments, and go/no-go decisions. Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or a related field.
• 4 + years of hands-on QA experience, with at least 2 years testing mobile applications and/or hardware or IoT products.
• Strong command of testing fundamentals: test design techniques, risk-based testing, regression strategy, and defect life-cycle management.
• Proven experience with test automation: at least one of Appium, Selenium, or Playwright, plus strong scripting skills in Python or Java.
• Solid API testing experience (Postman, REST Assured, or Pytest with requests) and a working understanding of REST, JSON, authentication, and backend data flows.
• Hands-on familiarity with Android/iOS debugging tools (adb, logcat, Xcode Instruments, Charles/Proxyman) and with testing across device fragmentation and OS versions.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar) and using Git.
• Working knowledge of SQL and Linux command line.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work independently and drive outcomes with cross-functional teams.
• Experience testing embedded/IoT devices, robotics, or consumer electronics, including firmware, OTA updates, BLE/Wi-Fi provisioning, and audio/video pipelines. Good to Have:
• Familiarity with testing AI/ML-driven features such as speech recognition, conversational responses, or vision-based interactions, including non-deterministic output validation.
• Understanding of child-safety, privacy, and compliance requirements (COPPA, GDPR-K) for products designed for children.
