Job Description Associate

DIRECTOR,

North American Boarders

The Associate Director of North American Boarders guides prospective families through the process of discovering and choosing Shawnigan Lake School. Reporting to the Executive Director of Admissions, this position leads recruitment across Canada and the United States by building genuine relationships, representing the school regionally, and managing the enrolment journey from initial inquiry through to registration. We offer a competitive compensation package and a nurturing, family-friendly workplace. Appointment: Permanent appointment. Full-time 1.0 FTE position. Compensation: $72,000 - $85,000 per year. Starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience, and internal parity.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Strategic Family Engagement: Guide prospective families from inquiry to enrolment through personal communication, tours, interviews, and compassionate decision delivery.
  • Admissions Operations: Process applications, collaborate with the Admissions Committee on decisions, handle re-enrolments, and ensure a smooth handover to department heads.
  • Travel & Events: Represent Shawnigan across North America (20–30% travel) at fairs and athletic events, lead info sessions, and manage special initiatives like the Dream Scholarship.
  • Strategic Market Advising: Analyze regional enrolment data, demographics, and trends to advise leadership on high-potential target markets.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with Communications & Marketing, Advancement, the Head's Office, and the Learning Centre to streamline admissions projects and welcome new students. REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Education, Humanities, or a related field required (advanced degree preferred).
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in admissions administration, preferably in a boarding school environment.
  • Admissions, events, community development, communications and/or marketing experience.
  • Ability to connect with a wide variety of people to build meaningful relationships.
  • Proficient in the use of varied technologies, including familiarity with database management systems and generative AI.
  • Ability to deliver enrolment decisions in a respectful, empathetic manner.
  • Proven attention to detail and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to uphold best practices in enrolment management.
