in ATLANTIC BEACH, North Carolina. Duties You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader and be responsible for providing infrastructure technical support and supervision for the completion of organizational-level maintenance (OLM) and depot-level maintenance (DLM) at facilities located within Sector North Carolina units, and to personally perform trade work in the maintenance and repair of Coast Guard facilities. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance activities with supervisors and engineering staff, planning project timeliness. Conducting day-to-day facility maintenance operations, monitoring work progress against established schedules, and proactively reporting equipment issues, delays, or resource needs to management. .Performing skilled multi-trade maintenance and repair work-such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical/HVAC, or carpentry systems and developing labor and material cost estimates for building and facility repair projects. Inspecting facilities to identify structural or equipment deficiencies, preparing Condition Found Reports (CFR) or written work requests, and briefing supervisors and stakeholders in person and through written correspondence. Qualifications Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. To meet the screen-out examples of the duties includes: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervison. Knowledge of equipment, assembly installation, repair, etc. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of measuring instruments. Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading). Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Knowledge of materials. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
