We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Data Governance Associate, to support the management of HR information governance and data lifecycle practices by helping to establish policies, improve data management processes, and deliver governance initiatives that promote the effective, compliant, and responsible use of workforce Data. In the Human Capital Management division, we provide advice and insight to attract, retain, reward and develop a talented global workforce, giving employees the support and tools they need to succeed. This is an Associate level position within HR Data & Intelligence, that helps the firm make better workforce decisions by turning data into trusted insight. The team delivers core data, reporting, and AI infrastructure that supports people operations and enables self-service access to workforce insights across HR and Morgan Stanley businesses. What you'll do in the role:

  • Support HR data lifecycle management activities, including data retention, archival, and requirements.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR information management policies, standards, and controls governing the creation, retention, protection, and disposition of workforce data and records.
  • Manage defined workstreams within data governance initiatives, including Reference Data Management (Project Starboard), partnering with stakeholders to improve data quality, consistency, and usability.
  • Collaborate with business, technology, legal, compliance, and risk partners to translate governance requirements into practical processes and controls.
  • Monitor governance processes and data management practices, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and strengthen compliance.
  • Support data stewardship activities by helping document standards, resolve data issues, and promote adoption of governance practices across HR. What you'll bring to the role:
  • Experience in data governance, information governance, records management, data management, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of data lifecycle management concepts, including retention schedules, archival strategies, and disposition requirements.
  • Experience supporting governance initiatives or cross-functional projects involving business and technology stakeholders.
  • Understanding of data quality, reference data management, metadata management, or data stewardship principles.
  • Knowledge of information management policies, standards, and controls related to the management and protection of HR and business data.
  • Ability to analyze requirements, solve process and data-related challenges, and communicate effectively with stakeholders across functions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a complex environment.
  • At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role. All our positions are located in Montreal, Quebec. We offer a hybrid work environment, combining remote work and attendance in the office. Knowledge of French and English is required.
