Pharmacy Technician - Solinsky Eye Care

Description Position Summary Solinsky EyeCare is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The Pharmacy Technician supports the prescription needs of our patients and works closely with the Lead Pharmacy Technician, physicians, clinical staff, patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies to ensure prescriptions are processed accurately and efficiently. This is not a traditional retail pharmacy position . Pharmacy Technicians at Solinsky EyeCare do not fill or dispense prescriptions. Instead, they coordinate the prescription process and ensure that patients have what they need to obtain their medications from their chosen pharmacy. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple requests while providing excellent customer service to our patients. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Process and coordinate prescription requests and refill requests under physician/provider direction.
• Answer incoming telephone calls and assist patients with prescription-related questions and concerns.
• Monitor and respond to patient communications through Klara and other electronic messaging systems.
• Communicate with retail, specialty, and mail-order pharmacies regarding prescription status, refills, clarifications, availability, and other prescription-related issues.
• Submit and manage prior authorizations for medications through insurance companies and applicable authorization systems.
• Follow up on pending prior authorizations and communicate approval, denial, or additional requirements to appropriate staff and patients.
• Assist patients with prescription coverage and insurance-related issues.
• Contact insurance companies and pharmacy benefit managers when additional information or clarification is required.
• Coordinate with physicians and clinical staff when prescription clarification, changes, substitutions, or additional clinical information are needed.
• Process prescription transfers and communicate with pharmacies as necessary.
• Assist with resolving rejected prescriptions, pharmacy questions, medication availability issues, and other prescription-related concerns.
• Obtain and verify accurate patient, pharmacy, insurance, and prescription information.
• Maintain accurate documentation of prescription-related communications and activities in the electronic medical record.
• Monitor outstanding prescription requests and follow up to ensure issues are appropriately resolved.
• Communicate with patients regarding the status of prescription requests and provide appropriate next steps.
• Escalate clinical questions, urgent medication concerns, or issues requiring provider review to the appropriate physician or clinical staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and Solinsky EyeCare policies.
• Provide professional, compassionate, and courteous service to patients, pharmacies, physicians, and coworkers.
• Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative team members to support efficient patient care.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy while managing multiple requests and competing priorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the practice. Qualifications
• Pharmacy Technician certification preferred; willingness to obtain or maintain certification may be considered based on experience and position requirements.
• Previous pharmacy, medical office, ophthalmology, or healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience with prescription processing and/or prior authorizations strongly preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong telephone etiquette and professional written communication skills.
• Comfortable using electronic medical records, messaging platforms, and computer systems.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong follow-up skills and the ability to see requests through to completion.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate professionally with patients, physicians, clinical staff, pharmacies, and insurance representatives.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately. Preferred Skills & Experience
• Experience working in an ophthalmology or specialty medical practice.
• Familiarity with medication prior authorizations and insurance requirements.
• Familiarity with pharmacy benefit managers and prescription coverage requirements.
• Experience working with electronic medical records and patient messaging platforms.
• Knowledge of prescription terminology, common pharmacy processes, and insurance terminology.
