Role Outline

About Us: The Mission Critical Segment implements strategies to achieve sustainable financial results, maintain and grow customer accounts, and pursue profitable growth in pre-engineered buildings and services. The Mission Critical Segment is aligned with demanding customer needs to allow for streamlined estimating processes aimed at one specific end use, allowing for maximum efficiency in program/strategic accounts. Position Summary: The Lead Estimator supervises staff to support the sales, program management, project management and engineering team to achieve revenue goals and profit growth. They build and lead an effective team, ensure team members deliver accurate quotation assistance, and provide a high level of customer service to customers and builders. This position is accountable for building, mentoring, and leading a high‑performing team of estimators and sales engineering professionals, ensuring the consistent delivery of timely, accurate, and optimized quotations and pre‑order assistance. The Lead Estimator provides strategic oversight of pricing development, workload prioritization, and estimating execution, supporting Corporate Account Managers and senior sales leadership with the information required to make sound, competitive final pricing decisions. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Lead Estimator plays a direct technical and commercial role in advancing complex projects. This includes developing value‑engineering alternatives for design‑build opportunities, supporting post‑order pricing solutions, participating in high‑level technical and sales discussions with corporate customers, and—when required—signing and sealing permit and final design drawings in accordance with Professional Engineer licensure requirements. The Lead Estimator drives team performance through disciplined process management, performance measurement, and continuous improvement initiatives, aligning estimating execution with strategic sales objectives, profitability targets, and long‑term customer success. By translating complex customer requirements into high‑impact, constructible building solutions, this role directly influences BBNA’s competitive position, revenue growth, and enduring partnerships with its most sophisticated clients. Key Focus Areas · Ensure the estimating team provides customers and builders timely and accurate quotations and pre-order assistance. (30%) · Support the organization with all quotation-related information, helping to facilitate final pricing decisions. This includes ensuring business procedural documentation is up to date and aligned with strategic goals. (20%) · Drive the development of a high-performance work team focused on achieving segment objectives and profitability goals. (20%) · Develop Value Engineering ideas to allow for ease of engineering/manufacturing to meet customer timelines. (10%) · Provide project managers, engineers, clarifiers and other internal customers with post-order pricing and solutions. (10%) · Schedule and manage the estimating work load, including program account work and various opportunities brought in by sales team. (5%) · Participate in internal team meetings and external customer facing program wide discussions to streamline scheduling of estimates. (5%) Foundational Experience Minimum Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with emphasis in Structural, Architectural, or Construction Management · Professional Engineering license; or additional 10 years of industry experience or additional 7 years of estimating experience in lieu of license · 7+ Years of Experience in Steel Design or Pre-Engineered Metal Building Estimating/Design · 7 years of customer quoting experience and direct involvement with sales · Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. · Strong communication and teamwork abilities. · Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Preferred Qualifications: · Licensed Professional Engineer Certification · Strong technical background preferred. · Proficiency in estimating and pricing software. · Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings. · Experience in pre-engineered metal building projects · Demonstrated experience managing and developing people · Competence with company building software and pricing systems Skills and Abilities At BlueScope we believe in investing in our employees through our Leading at BlueScope Attributes.
